Title: Late 80s/90s Rave thread
Post by: Rman on April 12, 2020, 07:35:02 PM: I love this period of music. I was too young to enjoy the nightlife, but I love this era of music so damn much. Post your favs and keep them one selection per post. I learned about this type music, through, what else? Games. Especially the Streets of Rage series.

Went through a big kick two years ago where I watched basically every 90s rave/clubbing movie. (Human Traffic is my favorite. Go and Party Monster were good too.)

I remember a long time ago there was this website called Bassquake, where the owner was an oldskool raver from the UK and posted clips of his favorite 80's and 90's electronic songs, mostly of the breakbeat hardcore, jungle, d&b types... he was a huge fan of Bukem and that's what introduced me to him.

Yeah, there has always been a taste for old skool music though no matter what genre. I've always found that. Old skool hip hop, old skool soul, whatever it is. I think because certain genres go through a golden age, and then everything after that just seems like a bit of an iteration on that form. Something about going back to the basics of it.

Anyway this is definitely one of my favourites. Just has a feel good vibe to it.

Groove! That was the one I couldn't remember the name of. Strangely it had a bigger emotional impact on me than Go, but I think Go had the better plot/editing/acting and was the better movie overall. :P

One of my favorite "morning after" scenes in a movie. Just fun. :)

Yeah, even proggier breaks have been making a comeback, this is one of the biggest songs of the last few years (I was actually gonna meet up with Atra next time they came to NYC but it was canceled due to corona)
