- President Al Gore has just announced a plan after meeting with Russian President Boris Nemtsov earlier in Kyoto to abolish their nuclear weapons, work together to end global conflict and overhaul the global energy market and make it renewable by 2004
- Some strange looking dudes have been arrested at an airport in Boston and other places trying to board a plane to the United States. The FBI and CIA worked perfectly together to quickly respond to the threat
- The international section mentions Italy and Greece pass a budget and reform to meet the new EU debt to GDP regulations
- The United Kingdom joins the Euro
In the entertainment section:
- Napster wins lawsuit and goes public, rivaling Apple iTunes
- Following rumors of something called 'reality television' MTV announces they won't pursue it further
- Peter Moore tells excited SEGA fans that following the success of the Dreamcast SEGA is hard at work developing Dreamcast 2 as well as 12 new first party titles including a new Panzer Dragoon RPG
- George Lucas finally reveals the cast and the writing team for Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, including Leonardo Di Caprio as Anakin Skywalker
