Delaying the withdrawal pain until I go home :rejoice

Just be like my dad and say you’ll quit during Ramadan (but then don’t actually follow through with it)

I smoked most of my life, quit seven years ago and now i smoke when on vacation and cold turkey on the plane back. I must say i didn't miss smoking for the first 5 years but when the party guy inside me jumped out again i just went for it. If you can try smoking a month a year, yes the withdrawal sucks but it's so beautiful when you're on your on month.

They fucking banned alcohol, cigarette, vape and all tobacco sales here during lockdown, we're in week three now with 2 more to go. Every damn day there are WhatsApp videos of people breaking into liquor stores to grab alcohol and cigarettes :lol

As far as i can tell we have the world's strictest lockdown, maybe Saudi is just as bad?

I'm not sure Saudi have legal alcohol officially.
Banning tobacco seems like a terrible idea, between the theft, contraband and adding to the distress of addicts. Missed taxes too.

I've been told tobacco sales are actually surging in the border regions of France because it became difficult to just drop by Andorra or whatever.

If you leave your neighborhood here the army stops you and fucks up your shit. They caught some guys sitting on a corner in one of the ghetto areas here and they made them lay flat on their face on the pavement then roll home lengthwise, it's hilarious and sad :lol

there's also a video of an army dude lifting a dude over his head and throwing him over a fence, top comedy :lol

Tobacco shops felt into the essential category here too, though a lot decided to close and/or had shortages. But I've seen more reopening now (which was the first stop date for the lockdown).

Never was as acute as pasta and toilet paper but I've seen beer aisles fairly empty on occasion (not the dark beer tho, you Gallic plebes :lol). Wines at mid-prices points too.

I started as well after two years of having quit. Sitting around in the backyard with some beer leads to bad decisions. :existential

now it's just triggers to worry about, assuming you actually want to quit.

I've smoked less than half an inch of a cigarette in my life and i'm glad that out of all my dependencies I managed to skip the one that's expensive as fuck, makes your mouth taste like shit, and doesn't even make music sound better or stop your back from hurting.

Hitchens said it made him a better writer, maybe it did, I don't know.

I don't think tobacco makes anyone better at anything.

Well, I guess it makes the CEOs of the companies that sell it better at owning yachts.

Interesting, thanks. Of course the most important bit is this: "The study, conducted by scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, found heavy smoking damages the brain overall, reducing the ability to process information and respond to it."
Smoking makes you dumb.

I'm paraphrasing, but it makes the dumb parts of your brain dumb and the smart parts smart.

But yes, drink coffee instead.

Oh, I did smoke for a while when I was a student, mostly at parties, never in my dorm room. And then one day, after a long night of partying and drinking and enjoying the beautiful feeling you get in your lungs after smoking an entire pack the night before, I decided to stop doing it because it was an incredibly idiotic thing to do (which of course I had been well aware of the entire time). We all do dumb stuff at times.

Is vaping an option? I'm doing that with almost no nicotine (oral addiction?) and I think it's legal in most places if you already look like a douchebag.

Oh great, it's the tag team of contrarian and worry wort coming in here to display why they weren't invited to many parties. ::)

Let me be a fiend in peace!

Dude, you're just in withdrawal phase. Go sweat on your bed and come back and you'll be happier.

I had an easy time quitting. I don't how or why but I was never addicted. I do miss things tied to it, such as coffee and cigarettes or a smoke on a cold, lonely, winter night walk. It was also a good way to socialize with people. Just go to the smoking section or hang out on the side with the other smokers(we don't have those anymore). I can't smoke anymore because of hormones. It has a high likelihood of causing blood clots. Thankfully weed doesn't cause that. I've switched from cigs to weed and its been good. Can't wait for the day when I can openly smoke a joint on a cold, winter night. That'll be the day.

One of the best feelings in the world, was after banging a crazy MILF in ghetto apartments, inching towards midnight, where someone was killed a block away at the gas station next to the sex/pipe shop, was the drive back in my shitty Dodge Intrepid, smoking a cigarette on the way home. That feeling of being on the ground, being part of the grind, being in the thick of common, of normal.

The bond you feel with being the outsider, being lonely, being alone, that bond with the cigarette, its a reminder of your best friends, while being your best friend. It's a ritual and bond that blends life and death together.

when i quit cigarettes and snus i just smoked extra weed and ate a bunch of food. that was definitely not the way to handle it. :lol

it definitely does get easier after a week though, so if you can make it that far you might as well keep going.

Maybe you are less likely to get it, but if you do, as a smoker you are MORE LIKELY to die.
Smokers are 2.4x more likely to develop severe symptoms.
Half of those who get severe symptoms and need respirators die.

Maybe nicotine has a beneficial effect in this specific instance, but smoking certainly does not.
