Quote
So it was a surprise to learn that Chuck E. Cheese pizza can be consumed in the comfort of your own home, delivered via on-demand apps such as Grubhub, as was revealed last month when a Reddit user documented their experience of accidentally ordering from the children’s entertainment center. Pizza made in the kitchens of select Chuck E. Cheese locations is sold under the name “Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings” on Grubhub, allowing the business to generate revenue while technically remaining closed due to the coronavirus. [...] (The name derives from one Pasqually P. Pieplate, an Italian chef character and drummer for Chuck E. Cheese’s resident rock band.)

[...]

Chuck E. Cheese seems to have come up with the tactic of masquerading as a small business to market menu items that might otherwise be unappealing to consumers — an approach that could be adopted by more restaurants as the coronavirus continues to push restaurants and their customers toward delivery.

[...]

The strategy isn’t new, and large chains have created separate brands, or “virtual restaurants,” on delivery apps for years. Like Chuck E. Cheese, physical restaurants operate these online brands out of their kitchens, sometimes serving the same food to customers who are none the wiser. Many are outed by the addresses they list on delivery apps, which are the same as brick-and-mortar restaurants with different names, and customers aren’t always happy when they spot the overlap. In the United Kingdom, for example, fast-casual chains like Frankie & Benny’s sold identical menu items under “trendy” sub-brands to the ire of customers who said they would have avoided those restaurants if they knew where the food was made.

...So, would you?

...But is your Pizza Hut pizza actually Pizza Hut pizza, or is it "Pizza Hut" pizza from Chuck E. Cheeses? :thinking

Not that I wouldn’t eat cheap chain pizza just not what I or anyone I know ever orders.

I worked for a company that did the opposite, our products were premium brand so we made a virtual brand to sell the same shit but only cheaper. The wealthy were none the wiser and we got the dirty poor's money as well.  :brain

Honestly, I couldn't care if Chucky wants to sell pizza online. Just be upfront about it. It's also hilarious that the price for this "local" pizza is cheaper than their kid-focused one:

https://www.reddit.com/r/philadelphia/comments/g3xkfl/tried_to_support_local_business_via_grubhub/fnu8vac/

Large PizzaSmall Boneless WingsChocolate Chip Cookie Pizza
Chuck E. Cheese$14.99$10.49$6.99
Pasqually's$10.00$5.00$6.99

Like... you save $5 by buying "local." At that point it's like "why hide it? Just say you're Chucky...?"

Good pizza as God intended is nigh on impossible to make at home  (got a wood fired oven that hits 400c?). the good stuffs pricey, but shit is not an every day food. a good pie is ez worth 25-30 imo. a truly good pizz' is a delicacy.

ive tried so many times to get the dough as delecate and crispy as half decent places and even with my oven so hot I'm scared ima melt the surrounding cabinets it's just not there. NYC style is easier, but when I really want pizz' I want that melt in ur mouth true Italian pizza mafia stuff.

You guys really never seen or bought a $25-30 pizza?

Even the mom and pop's around here not trying to be too fancy can easily get close to that with a few ingredients.

But IIRC this is one of the most expensive places in the country to eat.   Not that we have a ton of super high end restaurants, but almost everything is like $20-30 a plate kinda shit and groceries are extra expensive.

I live in one of the more expensive towns, but I‘ve never seen pizza that was more than 15 bucks around here.

Switzerland on the other hand :rage

The local Chuck E Cheese doesn't bother using the fake name and sells the pizzas for only $5.  For that price, it's not bad, but for pizza there are a lot better alternatives around me.  One of the local breweries started delivering growlers of beer and pizzas (alcohol delivery is a big deal in Minnesota due to our shitty liquor laws).  It's pricey, but the beer and pizza is good, and it makes a nice break from cooking every night and it's helping a couple of local businesses.

Yeah they have the giant brick oven style bake;  it's delicious.  I order "well done" to make sure I get that slight char on the bottom.   Kinda makes leftovers impossible but pizza is meant to be eaten fresh you dirty bastards.

it's the only way! idk about a heap of char though. I like a crisp, but the inside of the dough should be pillowy almost melting in ur mouth and the crisp shouldn't crunch. i dig home made pizza and shit cheap chain pizza when I'm lazy and just wanna blob, but they're different things.

It was $50;  but those bottles sell for $30 on their own, and like $100+ secondary market.

REEEEEEEtious: :trigger RN.

You live in Seattle, so those prices are "normal" for you. For anyone OUTSIDE of Seattle, those prices are crazy (bar like NYC or other big cities with high-cost of living). So yeah... it's a "flex," to order a pizza for $30, to me.

Just like Nancy Antoinette showing her $10,000 fridges full of $60 for 5 tubs of expensive ass-ice-cream is. Food is food. Whatever you can get at $10 is going to be the same shit as $30+ to me.

I'm just mocking you for going "oh yeah, I spend $30 on pizza and it's so good compared to these $15-10 Chuckie Cheese/national chain pizzas." I really don't care if you do. It's just funny to me, hence the infamous GAF meme as a "yeah, I'm sure it doesn't look 5-star for that price" sarcasm.

Chuck E Cheese pizza is on the bottom rung of pizza. Better than some 3 dollar frozen pizza, but not by much.  I think the only major chain it would beat out is Little Ceasers.

The best pizza I ever had was a firebrick oven place in Cape Cod. But then I went back two nights later and they completely burnt my pizza and then took 30 minutes to replace it. It was some impressive variance in results.

BTW, in Japan pizza is commonly pretty expensive AND bad. Japan pioneered the use of toppings such as corn, seaweed, squid, potato, and mayonnaise. If you were truly unlucky, that’s one combo pizza right there. It usually costs between ¥2000-¥3000 for a pizza.

You've been deceived, brother. Buy a hot n ready and ask them to put garlic butter on the crust. Take it home, add parm cheese+dried basil, and you have yourself a solid pizza you shouldn't be ashamed of.

The thumbnail image is perhaps the most important lesson of all.
