Title: I started hand grinding my own coffee beans. Wow, what a difference!
Post by: Rman on July 20, 2020, 08:20:45 AM
Not a tea dude, but I wanted to get into upgrading my coffee game.  I don't have a lot of counter space so I decided to get a hand grinder with a French Press.  I also got some fancy hipster coffee beans.

The taste is much more complex. I don't know if this placebo, but definitely beats the sawdust crap I was drinking before.

I have that same feeling when I perform autoerotic asphyxiation. Was it better or was it all the work I had to put into it that made it feel better?

when I was using preground coffee: wow, this coffee tastes terrible when I make it. somehow it tastes good when my girlfriend makes it. I love good coffee and I love terrible coffee so I love it either way.

now that I'm grinding beans myself and using a french press: wow, this coffee tastes terrible when I make it. somehow it tastes good when my girlfriend makes it. I love good coffee and I love terrible coffee so I love it either way.

my gf taught me the techniques she uses (she has some pro barista experience) and I seemed to be doing them ok, even according to her, but it still comes out bad when I make it

I got a grinder and a French press as a gift a couple years ago and have used it religiously ever since. I know I could bother getting better beans, but I don't care that much, it's still a massive quality jump over the ground supermarket coffee.  :)

My DeLonghi is beans to coffee, fresh every time.

Just make sure to always use espresso beans, no weak ass shit!

My gf is a lot pickier about the coffee she drinks too - I think when I make it the coffee just senses in utero that I'm going to love it unconditionally regardless so it doesn't have to bother to be good.

I'm currently testing out Fellows grinder (not bad) while my Barratza is serviced. I can't go back to ground packaged coffee ever in my life. The process of waking up, turning the kettle on, and grinding fresh bean is like no other. Wakes up your senses and starts your day off right.

I do a pour over ever morning for me and the missus. It's a great morning starter.

My breville espresso maker is seriously getting dusty from no use. The extractions I was getting out of it were just not tasty. Beans were always freshly ground, the pressure and bed were nice, but the brew always tasted off to me. So I moved on to pour over and I don't think I'll go back.
