I just saw a commercial for Diddy Kong Racing DS, I didn't even know that this game was coming out. It looked like just a port, but then I noticed they had Diddy Kong's girlfriend, I don't remember her in the first game. Is that the only change? I imagine they would take out Banjo and Conker since those characters are on the Xbox now.
-
It's the same game except with some character swaps (due to legal things i'd imagine), and DS gimmicks, and online play
-
And custom track editor.
-
PSP wish it had this killer app
-
DARKWATER BEACH
-
I am actually pretty excited for this title.
-
if it were CTR -- y'know, a GOOD mascot kart racer -- i might be excited
-
DKR is leagues ahead of CTR and you know it. DKR is THE shit.
-
CTR is what DKR *would* be if it were competently designed, directed, and programmed.
-
I read CTR would be DKR if it were competently designed, directed and programmed. And you're right. You're like the lone CTR fan too.
-
no way. MAF will back me on this one, too. CTR spanks all other kart racers, especially DKR. does DKR even have any fans?
-
DKR was one of the best selling titles on the N64 and rocked. Hard. It was challenging and awesome and had PLANES.
I think you thinking of Mario Kart 64.
-
Cruisin USA was one of the best selling titles on the N64. Fuck, War Gods broke 200K -- N64 fools were STARVED for content.
DKR was 15 fps and featured generic anthropomorphic animal mascots even Naughty Dog would sneer at. I'm starting to suspect you might be a wee bit, y'know, ninthing, sir! (Do you prefer Timber the Tiger or Happy Boo the Bear?)

I prefer it over Mario Kart 64 at least
But play it on the DS? No thanks
I only bought Mario Kart DS because it was the hot new title for the DS during its HUGE DROUGHT
Were I to get a DS now, Mario Kart wouldn't even be on my radar
-
Drinky never played DKR, obviously!
I'm waiting to see if some of the tweaks on the single player have hurt the game, but otherwise, I'll probably get it.
-
you didn't answer my question!
-
A lot of people like CTR. I haven't played it, though.
DKR doesn't go at 15fps. I was replaying it the other day, the frame rate was pretty steady. I'm sure it'll drop during some later boss or something, but it seemed pretty smooth.
-
How many players are supported online? If it's 8 I'll forever laugh at Nintendo
-
All I know is that it has Wi-Fi 6 player battle mode, which was absent from Mario Kart.
Also, this game runs at 30 fps.
-
I liked Diddy Kong Racing more than Mario Kart 64, and it's adventure mode made for a tolerable one player experience, which I can't really say about any other racing game.
And drinky, my favorite character of Diddy Kong Racing was the turtle. :)
Who was your favorite character of Crash Team Racing? The only characters I know of are Crash, girl Crash, and ugly bighead professor guy.
-
Yeah, the single player unlocking mechanism was grand too. Battle mode was awesome. Hovercrafts made for much profanity.
-
6 player...battle mode...WI FI? wow
Nintendo...
-
DKR runs at the same frame rate Zelda TOoT did, which is 15 fps. It looks like a choppy mess.
Enjoy Tumble the Turtle and Tooter the Tiger, hummos!
-
Source? OoT's frame rate looks visibly bad to me, DKR doesn't. How are you so sure?
-
DKR shits all over any other cart racer
