The concept or the musical or the movie based on the musical?

Lindsey Ellis does a really good job making me care about things that I generally don't care about.

I guess it was OK but I'm not a big Broadway fan nor am I the target market.

Rent is necessary but it’s kinda crazy how lopsided it is toward the property owner. You give someone money to use something but once you stop paying, you leave with nothing. It’s like a subscription service irl. It’s ridiculously simple to purchase housing and flip it for a profit without really doing much. Tenants are often people who don’t have any other option than to rent. Seems crazy there’s not really an easy way to balance it out.

Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty five thousand moments so dear
Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure? Measure a year?
In daylights,
In sunsets,
In midnights,
In cups of coffee,
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife
In five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in a life?
How about love?

Just move to Detroit Tasty and you can own a block of houses for the price of one place in Boston.

The first man who, having fenced in a piece of land, said "This is mine," and found people naïve enough to believe him, that man was the true founder of civil society

This is a good essay but doesn't do a great service to the stage musical. Ellis has a big theater background so she can be a bit snobby about certain things. Been a while since I watched this but I remember her criticisms on the film feeling more true.

If you're talking about the stage musical: yes. It is good. It's a little "how much shit can we pile on these people at once" but it was necessary to tell the story. Music is great, and it allows for incredibly powerful characters and moments. Everyone must bring an A game. Angel better be a superstar as well as Tom Collins.
Also not a lot of dancing, so some "double threats" can get a part in a show.
Also it is bad because it made being homeless in the East Village look like a goddamned glamping trip.
