Title: Glorious forward thinking comrades on the left coast save clueless idiot gamers
Post by: Kurt Russell on July 28, 2021, 07:25:43 AM
Good job, California.

Quote
PC gaming is about to get a whole lot less impressive across several US states. California, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington are banning the most powerful gaming PCs due to new power consumption regulations. As a result, retailers are blocking orders containing top components to these six states. In effect, it’s a government-issued gaming PC ban that could also impact other hobbies and industries.

This sort of liberal climate nonsense if the stuff of nightmares and what I fear the most.

Sure you can have 14 cats shit everywhere, have your phone ship from China, charge your Tesla 24/7 or reunite with your Somali wife and 8 children after you climb a fence in Spain but you can't have a Ryzen 5000-series CPU in your gaming PC.
And the people that decide all this only travel by plane and SUV caravans.

All the while folks in Malibu with their mega mansions siphoning dozens of megawatts of environmentally hazardous coal burning electricity to power their walk in coolers, elevators and 6 car garages...  :doge

It's okay, though - you can get around it if you tell them that they are crypto mining machines.

A funny thing about these regulations is that this specific Alienware setup that's not allowed to be shipped, if you go onto their store and add a NVMe SSD to it, it's no longer against regulations and they can ship it to anywhere. They appear to count empty PCIe slots against the overall score so filling them helps the computer pass the threshold.

It doesn't actually seem that it's banning gaming PCs so much as ones with massive power supplies that aren't used by the computer but have a high idle draw. The regulations even include a "gaming computer" tier which makes the scores more flexible.

They should enact laws to ban DELL products instead of regulations on power supplies.

If normies stop buying useless DELL shit we can probably save the environment.

Ban the use of PC's for:
- People who can't open PDF's
- People who install toolbars
- People who post more than twice a day on Facebook
- People that say when you ask what type of browser they have:"Windows" or "The Blue E"
- People that use build-in monitor speakers
- People that use Trust and or DELL products
- People that don't at least have a single SSD in their PC
- People with 8GB of RAM or less (laptops excluded)
- People without a dedicated GPU

Legislators couldn't find GPUs in stock, so they prevented anybody else from getting them. Simple as.
