Spain is now sending planes to help out. I wonder if jailing pilots after the coup is the reason why Turkey doesn't have any firefighting planes.

You do understand that the failed coup a few years back allowed Erdogan to establish himself as a fascist dictator, right? He has filled their jails past capacity with “dissidents“ who have done nothing more than voice discontent. There is no actual democracy in Turkey at this point.

I have a good friends who I have to watch what they say on the phone, their Internet is already censored by the Turkish government nationally, and I have other friends who have had their father incarcerated for no charges, with no release date. It’s absurd.

He simply blackmailed the EU by threatening to release more refugees into Europe, so any popular uprising doesn't get the support it needs from abroad to succeed.
