Title: Europeans using commas for numbers/currency instead of periods
Post by: Tasty on August 10, 2021, 03:11:20 PM
Fucking stop it. Commas are already an informal delimiter after three digits.

3,333,333.33

3,333,333,33

One of these is clearly correct and the other is clearly an abomination.

Thanks.

Its a good system.

I told participants in the James fund they would get 1,000 each but since they were Europeans I sent them one dollar

We actually just switch the comma and dots around (or don't use them).
So two thousand ninety-nine Euro and ninety-five cents becomes:
€ 2.999,95

In holland we usually round numbers, leave out the dots and currency signs and end things with a dash.
So this:
€ 2.999,00

Becomes this
2999,-

We generally don't use the dots until the numbers exceed 100k.

When we still had our own beautiful Guldens and not his hyperinflated fake monopoly money it looked like this

ƒ 2999,-

A majority of countries use "," not "." for decimals, so GTFO  :maf

Thank god sensible nations colonized and traded more than the English otherwise we would all be measuring things with our feets.
