Title: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the last great kid's movie ever made...
Post by: The Fake Shemp on August 14, 2006, 10:43:07 PM
After that, all you fucking crybaby parents (Drinky!) sanitized children's programming and films.  By the sequel, they were using sausages to fight!  Fucking sausages!  There was a time where kid's movies could actually be fucking scary and weird.  Fucking Dr. Phil Parenting 101 has ruined film and TV for kids.

Fuck that CG bullshit.  People think they're great because we're devoid of anything remotely resembling quality.  They're good, but they're nothing compared to what we had!

Oh come on, Toy Story, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles are... well, incredible! Hell, Toy Story is one of the kings of the children's genre!

I was just about to say that :lol

I agree with Willco in principle. To me, tv shows are where the damage Dr. Phil and his ilk have done the most damage. There was a time where a boy could learn the ways of men by watching real cartoons. Transformers. GI Joe. Fucking Voltron. A couple years later cartoons became dominated by comics, and things were still good. X-Men. BATMAN. Adventures of Superman. Spiderman. Heck, even things like Animaniacs rocked.

But then things changed. All of a sudden cartoons started getting sassy, and fruity. Instead of Transformers, now we have Kids Next Door. Shit. Good stuff like Samurai Jack disappeared too, as Cartoon Network became pussified.

I fear for the generation of boys growing up now. They should be watching Transformers, not That's So Raven!

I cant watch Toy Story anymore, dunno what thats about. Incredibles was good, but I dont really wanna watch it again. Finding Nemo gets too sappy for me. Ninja Turtles the motion picture was just so bad but with god intentions and the dumb speech by casey jones about family.

Toy Story is still classic. It's still funny, still good looking, and still quotable. One of the true classic movies of the last decade.

its not quotable. if I said any of that shit at work id have a mouth of broken teeth.

As for the humor I found it funny in the first 80 pixar movies, now im all jaded and dont give a fuck and find it horribly predictable.

like Incredibles. LOLZ HE CANT FIND HISSUPERSUIT HIS WIFE DOESNT KNOW LOLz MARRIAGE HIJINKS.

Im starting to think the only comedy I honestly like is the random shit in Freddy Got Fingered.

The problem is you're too jaded, MAF. The only truly "predictable" Pixar film so far has been the craptastic Cars, and even that was better than most other children's films these days...

Pixar's alright, but nothing I'd watch a second time. And it's true: if MAF quoted a Pixar movie at work, he'd be picking up teeth.

That's the true test of a good kid's movie.  You can quote TMNT and The Princess Bride!

Toy Story 2 is the only Pixar movie I think is amazing.  A lot of the others were good, but not something I'd buy on DVD.

Transformers and GI JOE were so good becuse they didn't patronize kids.  When you watched them, you didn't feel like they were trying to dumb things down for you.  Same with a lot of superhero shows like X-Men and Batman.

"You're a claustrophobic!"  "Hey, I've never even looked at another man before!"

"April O'Neal." [turns around] "What, am I late on my Sony payments again?"

That would never be in a kid's movie nowadays.

I can understand someone not liking Pixar's recent movies like Finding Nemo (ugh), Cars (haven't seen it, but it looks meh), Monsters Inc (haven't seen it lol). But freaking Toy Story? The Incredibles? Come on.

Action cartoons today are very weak. Kids Next Door, Teen Titans, etc are all meh. None of them stack up to shows like Transfomers or GI Joe, which actually made you think. Nothing was dumbed down in those shows.
