WTF? I bought the Hannibal Lecter Collection and it came with 3 movies...
Manhunter
Silence of the Lambs
Hannibal.
I've never heard of Manhunter. Is it any good?
-
Its Red Dragon, only better... and directed by MICHAEL MOTHERFUCKING MANN.
So yes, its good.
-
Its ok but why the fuck didnt it come with red dragon instead? its better than manhunter by far!
Edit: The dark shake can die! :starwars :punch :gun
-
It was a shitty 80s production of Red Dragon, as I recall.

Oh shit! Fight!

Haven't seen Manhunter. My dad said it sucked though.
Red Dragon was pretty cool though. Ed Norton :heartbeat
-
Is that the movie where this guy is in a parking lot and hears something rolling towards him...so he turns around and sees this guy in a wheelchair ON FIRE speeding towards him?
-
:punch
Manhunter is the superior version, Brett Ratner's p.o.s. is terrible.

Red Dragon is. It's awesome.

Hannibal Rising actually looks decent
And yeah, I loved Red Dragon.

PD: oh hell yes
The Manhunter hate is strong in this thread. Oh well. :'(

Well I'm about to watch it, so give me a bit and I might be on your side.

Fun Fact:
All the DVD's were put in backwards in their cases. WTF?

some one probably bought it, got it home realized it had manhunter instead of red dragon and took it back only after putting the movies in backwards out of spit.

Go see The Painted Veil if you love Norton. He's EXCELLENT in it.

I actually have a few Norton movies I still need to see, but thanks for the heads up. :-*

Manhunter rocks. Shits all over Red Dragon and Hannibal, and is just BARELY inferior to Silence of the Lambs.
-
Manhunter is pretty terrible, and Mann at his worst. Red Dragon is easily the better movie.
-
Willco am failed. Mann it his worst is Ali. Then probably Miami Vice.
Collateral > The Insider > Heat > Last Of The Mohicans > Thief > Manhunter > Miami Vice > Ali
-
I haven't seen Ali, so you're probably right. Miami Vice was pretty terrible too.
I like those other movies you posted, though!
-
Ali was just a steaming pile of overly long mediocrity. I am a bit biased because I generally hate biopics, but still, I dont know how one of my favorite filmmakers could make such a turd about someone as great as Ali, but Mann pulled it off. The film seems to have no message or clear direction, and left me feeling nothing.
Vice I can objectively call a poor film, but I still love it for my personal bias' (Mann and Vice). If I was lukewarm on Mann and didn't love the show, then I would probably not have liked Vice anywheres near as much as I did.

Let's all agree that Hannibal Rising looks stupid.
-
Actually, if I am giving my honest opinion, based solely on what I have seen (a few commericals; I havent followed any of the production of the film, and dont know anything about it, the cast, or the crew), I think it looks kind of intriguing.
-
I read the script review - it sounds pretty distinguished mentally-challenged. Actually, it sounded more like Hannibal Lecter fan fiction now realized than anything else.
-
It very well could be. As I say, I am going just by commercials, which obviously are edited to make it look awesome. It just looks like the dude playing Hannibal does a pretty good job of balancing the intelligence and crazed-killer sides of Hannibal, and it certainly looks like the film will deliver in the gore department. We'll see, though. Either way, DVD rental at best.

I agree with everything but the dvd rental part. I'll see it in theaters for shits and giggles.
