Without reading the accompanying article, the dude that's been drawing the comics for the past 10-15 years is black.  I'm sure this was his idea.

There's such a thing as tact.  Frankly, these distinguished black fellows were begging to be martyred.  You can't get away with hard core trolling like that in real life.
