My video card fan is dying and the card is overheating so I ordered a new Zalman copper heatsink--and it's Fatal1ty-branded! >:( I don't want to support that so-called professional gamer! :punch I've thrown my lot in with the casual weaksauces of the world, dammit. :-* Now I'm complicit. :'(

Actually, I spent a summer interning for gamers.com when it was up in Richmond--that brief, glorious period when it was an overpaid think tank of ex-Ziffies. I worked for Dennis Fong! I walked past his Ferrari in the lobby every morning!

Is it possible that despite my beliefs, I am actually the industry's foremost enabler of celebrity gamers? ??? :o :(

I demoed a game at E3 to John Romero and Stevie Case in the days before Daikatana brought Ion Storm to its knees (ironically, the best position for sucking it down).

WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?? :S

Romero gets way too much flak.  Sure, he fucked up Ion Storm, but the only truly awful thing he did was cut off his beautiful hair.

The worst thing about Daikatana is how relentlessly okay it is. All those legendary fuckups and what do we get? A mediocre-at-worst FPS with bland level design and so-so helper AI. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER!

So despite the stupid branding, this heatsink (http://"http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835118222") is completely awesome.

First off, it runs so quietly that I'm suspicious that there's something wrong with my computer. My room is eerily quiet, now.

Second, my GPU core temps dropped from a horrific 80C idle, 100-110C gaming to 45C idle, 55C gaming.

I'm a believer in Zalman, now, if nothing else.
