By now many of you have seen this picture which has been all ove the news for the past day.

I've often wondered about this for years now. At what point would it become ok to dig up your dead body? I don't think many people really consider this, but think about King Tut, and all these mummies they've dug up over the years. It really seems a little disrespectful to me that at some point in time people just decide on their own that it's alright to just dig up any old body they find from a thousand years ago.
Of course these same archeologists would never dig up a grave in some cemetary from 700 years ago, but if it's some Egyptian's body from 2000 years ago, go right ahead! If it's a famous dead person you can then ship those bones around the world and put them on display for all to see. If you're lucky you can even turn that dead person into a source of income for the rest of your life.
Does anyone else get my point?

What is so special about that pic?

What is so special about that pic?
The media is calling it the "eternal embrace" photo because it is a male and a female that appear to be embracing at the time of their deaths. Kinda sad actually, and weird that we're sitting here looking at it a thousand or more years later.

Is there a special story? Are they particular people? Link to any articles?
-
I bet it's actually two guys.

I get what you mean. I think it has a lot to do with who does, how they die and how they're buried.
King Tut and people like him were buried in these marvelous palaces. Of course we're going to explore and excavate.
And a lot of times when we find people like this, it's because they're buried in an odd place. They're not in a real cemetery. We used to care less and if there was an ancient burial ground, we just moved it. Now we're more respecting towards these kinds of things.

How can you unearth your own dead body?

How can you unearth your own dead body?
I think you're misreading the title as "At what time does it become ok for you to unearth your body?" when it reality it says "At what time does it become ok to unearth your body?" meaning at what time would it be okay for someone to unearth your body after you die.

Cut a block out around them and ship it to a museum like that.
-
It should be 'At what time does it become ok for your body to be unearthed' or something

I agree. I'll change the title with my mod powers. I got your back, buddy.
