Title: Toy Story 3 Officially Coming From Pixar In 2009
Post by: Cheebs on February 09, 2007, 08:44:14 AM
FUCK YES! Toy Story 2 is the only animated sequel better than the original. Lasseter announced it yesterday. Lasseter however has gone downhill as a director (Cars anyone?) but he won't be directing it. The director of Monsters Inc.(most under-rated Pixar movie) who also co-directed Toy Story 2 will do it.

Meh. Leave a good thing alone. I hope it's good, but if Pixar wants to be sequel happy why not make INCREDIBLES 2

We already have two great Toy Story movies

Because it would be Brad Bird's decision likely. Lassleter wanted a third one so he is having the toy story 2 guy do one.

You're the first person I know that feels that 2 is better than 1.  We come from alternate universes.

Toy Story went in the vault recently hasn't it?

I give both 10/10.  :-[

I don't give many movies 10/10s outside of my top ten few movies lol. But I'd give Toy Story a 10/10.

I watched Lion King again a few months ago and I'd say 10/10. Now I need to see Beauty and the Beast again; I loved it as a kid and I'm sure it holds up, but I need to see it again.

Hmm in terms of animation (no order)

Pinocchio 10/10 (scared the SHIT out of me when I was a kid)
Nightmare Before Christmas 10/10 (I've probably seen this movie more than any other outside of Forrest Gump)
Lion King 10/10 (some complain about the music...but it's perfectly balanced and amazing)
Princess Mononoke 10/10 (like EBERT said, it's the Star Wars of animation :punch)
Castle in the Sky 10/10 (one of the most beautiful movies I've ever experienced, on every level)

I'm missing other pefect ones too, just can't think of any

I don't understand what term you're using.  Seriously.  Went in the vault?  'Splain.

There isn't a single 2D disney film I'd give 10 out of 10 to. All of them are meh, but I have no nostalgia for them. I saw them in theaters but never found them interesting.  As a little kid I was a muppet man. In terms of animated movies the only ones I got into were the Don Bluth stuff like Land Before Time and An American Tail  lol.

Disney after re-releasing classics on DVD/VHS(Which happened to toy story about a year ago) normally puts them in the vault for 5-6 years meaning they can never be re-released till then to build up demand.

Disney is known for releasing DVDs for a limited time before discontinuing them, i.e. "putting them in the vault"

I love both of those movies but they don't compare to Lion King, Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, etc

So that they can release it a few years later as a super deluxe edition and make another 500 million dollars?  Dammit.

I bet they suck now, I havent seen them in years. But when I saw Lion King/Beauty and the Beast/etc I never found them that entertaining. I remember finding Aladdin boring in the theater and wanting to go.

The first animated movie I saw in a theater as a kid and fell head over heels for was Toy Story.

Perhaps my second most disappointing movie of all time, behind THE VILLAGE >:(

I remember seeing the VERY FIRST preview of Mulan and being OMG blown away. It looked so...serious for a Disney movie. Yet like many Disney movies of that age (Hunchback comes to mind) there was a problem with balancing the more serious stuff with the "funny" assman bullshit. It's still good of course, but it could have been MUCH better. If you cut EDDIE MURPHY out the movie and replace him with AKU from Samauri Jack that movie would have been the greast Disney picture of all imte :bow

No like Perfect Blue, Mellinium Actress, and Grave of the Fireflies. Enough with the kiddy animals/dolls/whatever going on some wacky and crazy adventure.

It's more like Pixar bought Disney in how jobs are handled now. Pixar is in almost total control over disney animation.

Even if Pixar went on it's own they said they'd always do family friendly stuff.
