Title: Can someone explain The Black Dahlia to me?

I was expecting an interesting noir murder mystery type of movie. Instead I got Josh Hartnett bouncing back and forth between two messed up women.  :-\

I think that's probably why the movie did so poorly. There's probably something on the History channel about it that's much more accurate.
