Is my judgement being clouded by "racist stereotypes" because I feel the girl shown at the 6 second mark is pure ugly? Her hair is terrible, and it's not because it's not "straight" or "white enough" or whatever. It looks unkept. The chick with dreads looks good - maybe because she's light skinned? Or is that the "racist stereotype" coming out again?
Look - I like black women. My mom is a beautiful, strong black woman. My grandmothers are too, as are...well , nevermind about my aunts. Anyway, I love black women. In terms of light skinned black women verses dark skinned women, I hate it when people propogate this idea that to think "light skinned" is better than "dark skinned" is racist and the product of the white media brainwashing us. People have preferences. Yes these are influenced by the media, but they are not determined by the media. I'm not going to hesitate when I say lighter skinned black women are more attractive to me on average than darker ones. Is that wrong? I love dark skinned women too obviously, but I have my own particular preferences.
Black women need to get off their soap box and look in the mirror. So much emphasis is put on black guys and how they flock to white women, and boo hoo no one cares about the black woman. Yet it's the black woman who seems most effected by this inferiority complex. Why else do they fry their hair to make it straight like white hair, or wear weaves to make it flow like white hair? Coincidence? Or contradiction?
Skip towards the middle where the director attempts to re-create the Jane Elliot experiment with black and white dolls. Why does that look fishy to me?
And why do these people feel that Africa relates to them today, and effects them mentally? Most white people don't even know what "heritage" they are either in terms of history.
