Title: I want to buy Sin City and Brazil on DVD...
Post by: Phoenix Dark on February 12, 2007, 10:16:05 PM
What would be the best move for me to make? Is there like a SE for Sin City? With Brazil I want to just get the single disk Critereon disk instead of getting the $50 pack or whatever.

There's an awesome 2-Disc set for Sin City including the stand-alone shorts with added material, numerous features, commentaries, and a good presentation of the theatrical film (with a kickass audience track).

Brazil? Criterion 3-Disc all the way, baby! Unless you're poor, of course... ;)

Don't blame him, last I heard the switch from Miramax to The Weinstein Company (Disney --> MGM) fucked up the licensing for the film. :(

They recorded the reactions of the Austin premiere crowd, so you kinda get the feeling that you're watching the film with a packed, hyper-intense crowd. It rawks. 8)

Is there a way to watch it without that with this SE? I don't want to hear anything but the movie

If I buy this and notice I can't watch the actual TC without some weird extras I don't want to see at the time I will hold you responsible. :-*

Dude, I have this set, you have nothing to worry about. The first disc = theatrical cut with some features, the second disc = extended segments with "film school" extras. ;)

I should've waited for the 2-disc SE for Sin City, but I needed the DVD day one.  :-\

Word of advice: slow-mo the "green screen" feature if you ever get a look. You get to see Carla Gugino naked in the flesh, without any grain or CGI covering her wonderful jubilees. :drool
