This has been airing a lot, and I catch glimpses of it and just laugh. Everything, from the dialogue, to the opening titles slamming, explosions, villains and such seem either like the most brilliant satire of late 80s to mid 90s action titles... or it is the peak of its idiocy. This seems like Last Action Hero, but played for REALS and not as funny.

Well, it was written by Shane Black.
-
Yeah, but it was produced by Joel Silver. It could've been written as a clever satire and Tony Scott and Silver exploited the script to produce a mediocre, cliche action film.
-
It's a cool movie. I always wondered why more football players didn't just shoot people when they didn't have a blocker.
-
Willco, I highly doubt they would take such a sharp turn from Black's script: his name being attached to the project was a major selling point, so they'd wanted to follow to his plans for the film as close as possible.

:lol
You act like Joel Silver cares! The vast majority of the time, studios and producers tweak and change scripts to the point where they are very different from what is shot. You've got to be like a Charlie Kauffman for that not to happen and that still happens. Who knows how many writers worked on this thing.

I would've loved to have seen True Romance as directed by Quentin instead of fuckin' Tony Scott.
