Title: Keith Olbermann: No Longer Just Cable, Coming To NBC
Post by: Cheebs on February 16, 2007, 08:39:43 AM
Keith Olbermann is fucking awesome and NBC has just signed a new contract with him. They are going to start putting him not just on the 3rd place cable news channel MSNBC, but now will get exposure on the NBC News which is the most watched news program there is (for comparison, NBC Nightly News gets around 10 million viewers, O'Rielly about 1 million).

Keith Olbermann's "special comments" in which he rails on the Bush Administration will become a regular feature on the NBC Nightly News in Olbermann's new opinion piece. Also Olbermann will begin to have prime time specials on NBC a few times each year.

GO OLBERMANN  :hyper I wonder how this like 100x jump in exposure will do?

I dont mean to sound like a dick, but when these are the best arguments against him, it' a pretty weak stance. Just look at these childish photoshops.

Keith Olbermann is a liberal who often speaks out against Fox News and Bush on his channel, there is nothing wrong with that. But he is no liar.

Which is my problem with Olbermann and his fans. They seem to think he's somehow above the shit other people pull them in reality he's just another egotistical prick on cable news, who happens to make up some shit. Everytime I check him out he's trying to spin numbers one way or another to insinuate no one watches O'Reilly. What the hell? :lol

He says O'Reilly's numbers are going down and the majority of his viewers are out of the important 25-50 range. How is any of that false?

It's a nice spin to take the viewer's mind off the actual numbers and onto specific ones. And even in that case it doesn't work

Olbermann's are nowhere near O'Reilly but as WAAAAY up compared to a year ago. O'Reilly's are down from a year ago.

If Olbermann was doing so bad why would he get a pay raise from 1 million a year to 4 million a year and begin appearing on NBC and even having his own specials on NBC?

Besides, him getting a new deal does not signify he's popular. I seem to remember people with far worse numbers getting shows (Beck) and renewals.

Actually they already have prime time shows, and they're getting good ratings. Pfft

The only media forum liberals own is the internet, which of course is a very important medium. Olbermann to my understanding is the only popular real liberal dude in the media outside of the internet. Air America is a joke lolz.

I don't >:(

But whenever I do I like him. One thing I don't like: he tends to go off on so many tangets just to show how smart he is. Also he switches between playing actual HARDBALL with guests and sucking their dicks. One day he might grill someone harder than Jack Bauer, but the next day he's laughing with someone asking them faux questions. Ugh

He's pretty fair that, for a cable pundit. And the panels for the show are always great.

He never comes off as overtly biased to me, unlike Olbermann. Despite his tangets ("do you think this situation is sort of like what he had in 1962 when blah blah blah? Or, is it more like the issue we had in 1956 when blah blah?") he's very imformative

He says he doesn't like showing off his own views and tries to keep them to himself. But his history is working for Democrats in DC. Olbermann isn't BIASED. His show is a show where he tells his opinion on various issues AND reports. It's not a straight news show.

I agree with him on a lot of issues in principle, although he tends to take things to the extreme. And while liberals hate the guy, it was O'Reilly who started the whole "boycott Exxon" while constantly railing on the company. That's a position many liberals hold (not me), yet he was given no respect. He's come out and said that the war was a mistake, and there was a problem with the intel.

And I find his "culture warrior" points interesting, although many go a bit too far

Olbermann pisses me off because of his asinine, elitist bullshit. Not to mention his horrible "comedy" style, which relies on rather dry, generic sarcasm. It's sort of like the same bullshit Jon Stewart and others have been regurgitating over the last 7 years.

O'Reilly strikes me as an old pimp unwillingly stuck in a new, expanding world he can't deal with sometimes. He's definintely not afraid to say stupid things, and I love his unwillingness to cater to politically correct-ness.

How has be been elitist? My only problem is when he got Bill Clinton(or was it Al Gore? I think it may have been both at one time or another) to appear on set with him he acted star struck and asks questions aimed to please them.
