<Orin-Gi-Oh> amen
<pedotrin> which is funny, because opa age is full of black homosexuals

Am it true? :(

I've been trying to get more people to come, but it looks like the interest has died down. People prefer either GAF or Opa Ages.

Any suggestions on shit we can do to get more people?

seems that it might live the same fate as all the offshots of OA that spawned over the last few years and never lived prosperously

no one stays away from the core gang for very long

yourself, honestly, won't you also desert the place to post a lot on GAF when your ban expires?

Evilbore is bombing like Snakes on a Plane. LOLZ

Snakes on a Plane was on the news last night.  I don't think it's bombing.

I would rather read 7 or 8 interesting posters (here) than 40-50 bullshit ones (OA).

The movie didn't "bomb". It was supposed to be a campy cult movie god dammit.

I think it'll have good legs.

It didn't even get first for the weekend.  :-\

I really doubt it will have good legs. You should see this movie in a crowded theater. And that didn't even happen for a lot of people on the very first weekend. At least there won't be a sequel.

Who cares?  The thing cost less than $30 million to make and the Internet did half the marketing for it.

Who really thought it'd be a box office monster?

Haha, it made $15 million this weekend!

1.   Talladega Nights   $14,100,000
2.   Snakes on a Plane   $13,850,000
3.   World Trade Center   $10,800,000

Only by a million

I'll bet that it will be the number one movie for the week.

Who cares if it's No. 1 or not.  The movie was a cheap gamble for New Line and they'll make 30% of their budget back (no folks, the studios don't get every dime out of the box office) by Monday morning.  For an R-rated, Grade Z campy 80s-in-the-Aughts films, I think it's fine.  I'm not sure which forum deluded themselves into thinking they had enough sway to make it #1, but it sure wasn't this one!

Hey, I just said, "At least there won't be a sequel"

I'm just a bit disappointed because there was no one at my showing.

Post by: The Fake Shemp on August 20, 2006, 01:30:21 PM
Actually, I wouldn't bet my life's savings on no sequel.

And furthermore, if it wants to maintain its elite cult status, then it really can't be a huge success.  Then I think it's no longer a cult film.

Exactly.

Anyone who expected this movie to make $100mil or something was crazy. It doesn't need to make half of that to make a profit.
Title: Re: Is Evilbore dead?
Post by: CajoleJuice on August 20, 2006, 01:40:28 PM
Ok, I read that the movie budget was $35 million. Is it going to make it back at this rate? Probably not. That's all that I was looking at.

I can't believe I pulled this off-topic with a distinguished mentally-challenged joke. I even said LOLZ afterwards.

Evilbore is off to a good start because for the most part we have good, entertaining posters. We just need more of them.

Yeah, it'll eclipse $30 million by next weekend.

That is impossible. It made under 15 mill opening weekend. Weekday numbers are VERY low. It will be at 20 million by next friday.

Well, if this forum wants new people then it needs to go outside of the current pool of GA/OA posters. Because as it stands, it seems that the OA/GA combo is working very well for both sites. This forum seems to refuse to go beyond what GA does in terms of content/censorship/modding style. As it stands it's "GA Lite" that's not very appealing at all. Phoenix Dark can spam OA with EB advertisements all he wants but really, there's no reason for an OAer to come over here. In fact, the forum software used is worse than both of the previously mentioned sites.

Oh, and OA is not boring, dude. If anything I would say GA is. I haven't lurked that site in a month.
Title: Re: Is Evilbore dead?
Post by: MrAngryFace on August 20, 2006, 04:04:08 PM
GA is boring because its just stupid sales-age fuckers and the same goddamned OT threads over and over.

I dont LIKE OA, but the extremes are never boring. Never admirable, but never boring.

The forum is now viewable to guests and we are working on getting 'non OA/GA' people together. The initial few weeks was honestly to get some personality to draw upon, but unless we get some completely new blood we're gonna end up being a second rate GAF, because we won't allow the kind of usually offensive freedoms OA offers.

This is all nothing new to the admin, so no worries. Since this forum doesnt depend on ads its lifespan isnt threatened by low traffic weekends. Our weekdays are busy because most of the posters have desk jobs.

I actually think evilbore's doing pretty well for such a new forum.

Another forum (http://honeyflash.cloudwalking.net/index.php) I designed has been up for almost a year now and just passed the 500 member mark.

This forum has been up for only a few weeks and we already have just over 200.

Of course, not everyone is an active poster, but I'm just making a comparison. I'm sure Willco could provide other stats such as overall hits to the site.

Communities take time to grow.

Well - what do we really want EvilBore to be?  It'll be whatever the posters decide to make it.

More gaming threads would be a good thing in my opinion.  Especially gaming impressions threads as I tend to put a little more weight on those than the reviews from magazines.

I agree we need some more gaming topics...ones that aren't rabbid with stupid fanboy discussions MAF GET TO WORK and others as well help out I like reading that shit.

I regularly make these on OA since of the higher amount of traffic and wide range of uncensored opinions, however I haven't really done that here since most of these are wildly cynical and on moderated boards people don't like that... I'll do an effort to author a couple good quieter ones though, these are always successful :)
