Title: Thinking about getting a Tatoo...of marios cap. Advice?
Post by: Madrun Badrun on February 20, 2007, 11:09:58 AM: So I'm going to be 18 in a few days, and wanted to celebrate it with a tatoo. I want something nerdy but not overly nerdy. So I was thinking of either mario's cap with maybe a shadow under it to give it dimension or marios cap hanging off the top of the triforce (Not sure about this because I hear yellow fades?). I was also thinking about getting the laughing man symbol but I only want this thing to be about 2 -2.5 inches square so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get the writing for it. Any other ideas on what I could get?

So any advice from people who have done this? what kind of questions should I be asking the artist? ect.

And I want something that means something to me - hence marios cap, mario was the first game I ever played and when I look back on my childhood videogames are going to be what I remember.

i think it has to fit the woman. i prefer all or nothing. The type you see on the cover of tattoo mags, with their arms covered and whatnot, that's pretty hot. Extreme, but i like the look. i hate it when a woman gets a tat of a frog or butterfly on her ankle, or worst, a tribal on the small of their back. It just looks so out of place to have a spot of color on an otherwise blank "canvas", and in the case of the lower back tribal, it's so tired that the only benefit is that it makes an excellent target.

I'm the exact opposite. I love just a small little thing on a woman or one of those small of the back ones.

How stereotypical. Yes, girls who get butterflies or fairies or whatever is a little corny. My tatoo I actually put a lot of thought into and designed myself, although I'm not as interested in Astrology now, it hardly makes me a dumb tramp

ya. i've been recommended a place but I think I'll cruse around the city next week with a buddy and go talk to some of the artists.

I would advise going with something that looks good over something that has special meaning to you because there's a good chance that down the line that thing won't have as much meaning to you whereas good art/design is timeless. The only exception is if you are doing it to honor someone close to you, who has passed away or something like that (BTW, NOT A GF/BF, eff that ish).

Also as far as tattoo parlors go, shop around and look at the artist's portfolios to make sure you are getting your money worth (esp. if it's something more elaborate/detailed) and make sure that the place you decide to go to has good hygiene practices (sterilize their needles, etc). You can ignore all my advice if you want but take the one about hygiene seriously.

The only problem is I'd want something unique so if I go for cool I'd still be drawing it up my self or worse having the artist draw it up with me (which is only bad because then it would get really expensive, lol). Too bad Koalas and wombats aren't cool animals :(
