I am listening to Arched Maid Via RDJ from the Hangable Auto Bulb EP2 and it is MAKING ME CUM. This song is awesome.

I'll appreciate although I will admit to not owning any CDs. I actually prefer his older stuff to his newer. College buddies were big fans.

I like everything up to Windowlicker. I do prefer the earlier analogue synthesizer stuff, but the drill n' bass stuff is crack-like to listen to.
There's some good stuff in the Analords series (they're primarily analogue-driven), although there's just a lot of material there to wade through. Chosen Lords gets the best of it.

I love love LOVE "I Care Because You Do". Squarepusher does the weirdstep drum & bass better though.

I haven't listened to Squarepusher in years. It seemed like he made the same album like 3 times in a row and then I took a multiyear vacation from electronic music.
I started getting into ambient music by way of Eno about 3 years ago, and it's kind of lead me back to Aphex Twin. First it was the SAW albums, then I just went nuts on his whole catalog. I still think Drukqs is the only non-great thing he did. Aside from some like, lazy half-assed remixes.

Drukqs has some great stuff on it. There's a really good, lengthy single disc in there somewhere.

I like the prepared piano stuff, but a lot of the electronic stuff sounds like subpar leftovers sitting in a folder on RDJ's computer desktop.

I quite liked the latest Squarepusher. It's not really as abrasive as his other stuff though, so I can see why a lot of people aren't digging it.
Classics is my favourite Aphex Twin album. Tamphex is a fucking awesome track.

No! I can't stand his abrasive shit or his jazz noodling, I'm a fan of the "Port Rhumbus" and "Feed Me Weird Things"-era Squarepusher. So yeah, I liked that "Hello Everything" album quite a bit. I wish "The Modern Jazz Guitar" wouldn't trail off into noise, I really love that tune up until then :-\

I think it works well in the context of the album. It kind of felt like it needed something to blow it apart a bit toward the end.
Glad I'm not the only one that liked it though.

Aphex Twin and Underworld were my first real introductions to electronic music- well, aside from Devo and I guess Kraftwerk. Richard D. James is a musical genius, although he's gotten a bit lazy in the last few years. Ventolin is awesomeness, too.

Check out Chosen Lords. It's the best of his Analord series, and it makes for one pretty kickass album. Aside from Drukqs and a comp, it's basically the only thing he's done this millenium. Chosen Lords probably stands together with his best material, and there's also a lot more great material in Analords. . .it's just that Analords is like 60 tracks and they had to widdle it down to 10 for Chosen Lords.
