The game is sick!
-
Oh my god this shit sucked so awesome, I didn't keep it around after I showed all my friends it, you use the same stick to do combos and change the music.
-
PEOPLE
DL AND PLAY THIS
I was mesmerized by it for like 2 hours last night.
-
Uh, this game is horrible. Have you even played the others? This game is a disgrace compared to those.
-
Let me explain, demikins. . .
The controls were horrible. There was loud, awful rap music playing, obscuring all other sound effects. The mediocre graphics had shitty effects randomly popping up for no reason. Yet it will sell a zillion copies. The game was mesmerizing.
This was the first game in forever that made me say WOW at how horrible it was, and everyone with a 360 can experience it for free.

THROW DOWN
It's better than VF5, even if VF5 let you play fl0w for free during the 7 minute install time and the subsequent boot-time data checks!

No AKI, no sale.

No AKI, no sale.
There is no buying involved! The demo is a small DL. It is awesomely awful. You WILL say WOW.
-
yeah I played it like 5 times in a row at Bebpo's house. he was like "haven't you had enough" and I was like "no...there's MORE. I can FEEL it." the depths of terrible inanity are beneath comprehension
-
this is quite possibly the most hilariously dumb and racist game i've ever played
-
this game isn't as bad as you guys think it is... give it a second chance, fuck that aki wrestling bullshit... it's all about the FNR3 engine.
-
uh, Fight Night Round 3 looks better than it

I was waiting to hear what your rationale was, and then I saw this and kind of just gave up. The FN3 is arguably good for boxing, but for something that's supposed to be a visceral, cartoony brawler doesn't need to be sooooooooo slooooooow. Def Jam Icon is the perfect example of a game that should be a button masher.

:lol i've just never been a fan of aki games, which is why i was never interested in the other renditions of Def Jam. the reason i like icon is because it's accessible for non-wrestling fans and feels more like a boxing game. mapping the grapple moves to the d-pad felt gimmicky at first, but it ended up saving me the time of figuring out extraneous button combinations to pull off good moves. the pacing is fine in my opinion. it feels much like a street fight as opposed to a japacrap button mashing DOA fighter and the implementation of the right stick to pull off FNR3-esque punches was a nice touch by EA chicago. to me at least, it felt like FNR3 in spirit, a game that i truly enjoyed (and i've hated a lot of EA sports games these past few years).
i just think people need to give it a second chance... try playing the demo more than once or twice. there's more depth than you think. oh, i'm gay for rhythm games, so the gimmicky turntable shit works for me.
-
Dude, I played the demo for like 3 hours on Saturday night. I was hypnotized by it's awfulness and pointless self-defeating design.
-
I was gonna skip this, but since you say it is so awful why not. Def Jam Icon here I come!
-
now that's the spirit... :D
-
I think the lead designer is the same guy who did the Mutant League series, from memory.
-
Ok so I've never played any of these games before. What exactly is bad about this? The fight to the beat/turn table thing seems dumb but otherwise it seemed like a boring grapple fighter thingy. Nothing felt obviously busted to me.
