Just took over the first island, and my character can leap huge distances, kick semis out of his path, and toss my super agent car over walls. The guns are awesome too.
The game just flows so well, the controls are great and doing all the super stuff only makes assaults on gang boss compounds REALLY interesting.
There better be a Crackdown 2, cause its gonna ROK!

Yeah, I agree with you, and you know I'm gay for sandbox games. Reviewers complain about the lack of missions, but I think the sandbox formula is arguably improved by not having missions, especially when they are as poorly implemented as GTA's.
Crackdown does things right, and although the difficulty level is slightly borked, it's a good first stab at something new. I do hope we see a sequel. Imagine if they implemented skill trees in this, and different players could have totally different powers? That would make coop excellent.

Yeah, I like how detailed the skill gain system is. I mean you gain agility for shooting people down from high altitudes even. Im playing on standard 'tough' difficulty and without 'extensive' grinding ive found a few of the bosses stronholds challenging and have had to adapt a few times.
But yeah, the lack of LAME missions is awesome. I love how they just decided to let me decide on my own how to do things. Granted the lack of missions will make the game shorter for some, but fuck them, its nice to have a sandbox game I LIKE.

I thought the demo blew. I almost bought it for the Halo 3 beta though...

Yeah. Frankly, the sandbox novelty mostly wore off after Vice City. Subsequent sandbox games I'd play for a few days, but I'd always get tired of them quick due to the stupd missions. I know I'll finish Crackdown and I've already probably played it more than any post-VC sandbox game.
Minus Mercenaries.

I find Crackdown far more compelling than Mercs. Mercs wasnt bad but the gameplay was so dominated by items. The addition of character attributes of the kind found in Crackdown adds SO much to the game. I have two more islands to wipe out, that'll take some time yet, and I love dinking around leaping rooftops and finding all the orbs anyway ;-)

Yeah, I think Crackdown is better than Mercs, too. I put a lot of time in Mercenaries, though. It was definitely flawed in many ways, but it was another sandbox game that dared to do things a little differently. I am hyped for the sequel.

Awful game, both of you will forget about it in at least a week

No doubt it's not going to have a lengthy shelf life, but I'd rather have a game that burns short and bright than one I don't really enjoy playing that much.

I really really need a 360.
-
Did the island get boring after you cleared it? I've been avoiding killing any of the bosses because I don't want the game to wind up barren.
-
I havent tooled around much since completing it, it was kinda my evening milestone for the game. The dispatch suggests that it does get 'boring' after clearing it, but there's two more islands so no big for me. Plus I like seeing results ;-)

This happened to me on the first island. I killed too many of the generals or whatever too quickly, and I kind of regret it, because now it's tough to find mooks to raise my strength and driving skills.
-
God damn the other gangs are 10 times more fun to fight than the first gang. I LOVE THIS GAME!
-
I think the volk are harder than the other of the two later gangs. I got strength maxed first, working on gunplay and driving. Driving I mostly want to full so I can see the final version of the Agency SUV and sportscar :D
-
My friend told me that you can turn the gangs back on after you defeat them. Is this true?
I only have the kingpin left in the first island.

I came in here to say that. :(

Negro, we're black. Shit. Fuck it. Let's rob some. :-*

I got the guns. You bring the pirates. :gun
-
NINJA PIRATES.

NINJA PIRATES.
Madness! Is that even possible?! :o
-
Disgaea 2 says so.
-
Never played it. I need to track down those Nippon Ichi games.
-
I don't like them, but I found that screen shot to be funny. I find the wit and humor in Disgaea quite good, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired (at least imo, because it's definitely not a SHIT srpg, just not my style).

Well, I at least wanna try the first Disgaea game. I heard that it's the better of the two.

Second Disgaea is actually a way better game. Love for the original is born from nerd nostalgia
