I read the back and it sounded interesting, and the shots in the back suggested it would at LEAST have some nice shots, but 20 bux without recommendations aside from MSN going OMG AWARDS?!?!??!
-
I thought Best Buy has it for like $15?
I'd go for it, considering the praise its gotten. But then again I went for Brokeback Mountain and Crash last year, and look what happened. :-\

Fucking appalling film. One of the biggest pieces of shit Ive seen in years. I am being 100% honest.

Oh, nevermind. :-[

i didn't think it was nearly so bad as scenester. it wasn't fantastic or anything, but there are two moments in the film that come to mind as some of the most heartbreaking/touching i've seen in a flick in a long while.
not sure i'd buy it just for those two scenes, though. parts made me roll my eyes until they almost fell out of their sockets.

My brothers are over this weekend so we rented Minority Report (8.5) and Mean Girls (9) lol.
And as the bad adult that I am I let them watch Goodfellas; they loved it. Alas, I won't let them see The Departed, or at least not my 13 and 12 year old brothers. While Goodfellas is over the top in places, TD is pretty damn vulgar and excessive in every way
-
They'll just watch it on peekvid.

Minority Report was a 6.5 at best, PD.

6.5 is a hell of a stretch too.

I hated the wishy washy "and they lived happily ever after" ending, but most of the stuff before that was pretty awesome
-
I didn't even have to see MR to know it would suck.

OMG Lacey Chabert in Mean Girls :drool
-
It was good but Little Miss Sunshine and The Departed were better.

Minority Report is a 9 up until it all falls apart in the final 20 minutes. For that, its a 7 in my book.
-
The problem with Minority Report is that it's internally inconsistent with regards to the telepaths' abilities and how the whole pre-crime system works, and then at the end the whole macguffin of the Minority Report itself is rendered meaningless (there is none) and the story veers off in a whole other stupid action thriller direction.
The only cool thing about that movie is how they show the transit system of the future.

I watched Babel on a whim, having no clue what to expect and when I left the theater I honestly wasn't sure if what I had watched could be considered a good movie or not. The message I took away from the movie probably wasn't what was intended and the whole experience made me feel very indifferent. I felt like the director of the movie was trying to convey something greater than the narrative would lead you to believe by trying to turn a series of tenuous coincidences into something meaningful. Typically, I loathe stories based on coincidences but here I gave them the benefit of the doubt for the most part. Not great, not terrible, just okay. I was pretty surprised that Oscar chose to recognize it as there wasn't anything especially memorable about it.
Not to taint opinion about the movie or take anything away from it but in some ways it reminded me a lot of Crash.

Minority Report is Speilberg's second best this decade so far imo(Catch Me If You Can is #1). Though I expect Lincoln to hopefully surpass it. Because I can...RANKING ALL THE SPIELBERG MOVIES I SEEN:

Hook is like a -3/10.
Also, I think MR and WOTW were both pretty great, and both get far too much hate.

I LOVED Hook as a kid and saw it on tv recently and it was horrible. More like 2/10 for me but I give it +3 for my love of it as a kid.
I like WOTW a lot, 7 out of 10 is good. I would give it 8.5 when I saw it in theaters but dvd knocked it down a little bit since the tense atmosphere that I loved about it kind of has been lost through repeat viewings unlike Jaws.
WOTW has perhaps the best dvd behind the scenes docs of ANY spielberg dvd outside the indiana jones trilogy. The most detailed following spielberg every step of the way, spielberg tends to be more mysterious as is shown in his hate of commentaries.
Which annoys me to be honest, I can sort of understanding not wanting to do them but he refuses others to as well. Lucas wanted to do one on all 3 indiana jones dvd's with Harrison Ford but spielberg said no commentaries, even if he isn't involved.

Spielberg is sort of notorious for being an asshole.

Spielberg is sort of notorious for being an asshole.
maybe but that is not it. He just doesn't like how dvd's are destroying the "magic" and "mystery" of how films are made. Which is a bit annoying.
-
Its true to a certain extent, though. A great scene can lose something when the filmmakers do some big commentary/documentary dissecting the whole thing.
-
Temple of Doom is like a Poop/10

Temple of Doom is like a Poop/10
Weakest of the three. Spielberg's wife was annoying as fuck in it but I enjoyed the action a lot and seeing Harrison run around as Indiana is worth 7/10 in itself for me pretty much.
Which is why I expect to enjoy Indy IV. Ford beating up commies(which seem to be the bad guy this time around) in his Indiana get up is something I can give thumbs up to without thinking about it.
-
shortround owns temple of doom.
"no time for love doctor jones!"
"een-dee, i love youuu!"
