I've never seen a Christian chick look like that. Most have a grey/blue/brown dress on and wet hair after cleaning it in the water fountain

I do find myself wishing you'd just admit you're a Christian conservative of the reactionary variety, PD. :-\ All your wrangling and posturing doesn't even seem to give you a semantic edge in arguments, anyhow -- we've pretty clearly established that you shill for the Bible, are fiercely anti-education and anti-science, and will give Republican/conservative hypocrisy a pass while inappropriately harping on minor Democratic/liberal gaffes all because, again, science/education elitists piss you off.

Home schooling FTL. :-\

I'm not going to apologize for believing the Bible, and I would remind you that doing such does not make me a conservative.

Anti-education? Name one of my positions that gives you that impression. Anti-science? Because I don't believe in evolution I'm anti-science? That's some rather simplistic logic don't you think?

With respect to hypocricy, I point it out no matter who's to blame. And Gore being a pure hypocrit is far from a small gaffe.

it does indeed make you a conservative, because your beliefs exist in direct contradiction to the scientific method OH GOD IT'S JUST TOO PAINFUL TO IMITATE YOUR DISINGENUOUS APPROACH TO INTERNET ARGUMENTATION :-\

I decided to take a stab at emulating your "serious" posting style, but it made me too uncomfortable to continue 1.5 posts into it.

Steps:
1) Dubious, uncircumscribed (and usually contrarian) observation phrased as an assertion
2) Waffling reliance on idiomatic and conventional wisdom in lieu of fact

I never made it to steps 3 and 4

3) Re-assertion of previous unsupported premise
4) Polite ad hominem and eventual derailment

I must say I'm disappointed in you Drinky. Earlier today I laughed off Willco's deliberate trolls against me as poor imitations of yours; now even you seem to be imitating yourself, with little success. Where's the trademark wit?

Evolution isn't a belief. It is a fact of life. You don't say you "believe" in gravity. I am a christian but its absurd to not accept evolution.

I hate that about my religion, it takes so fucking long for us to accept facts of life. We refused to believe the earth rotated around the sun when scientists were already saying it was so. So many christians (such as PD) won't listen to anything that may call into question beliefs they created by reading in-between the lines of the Bible.

Last time I checked Galileo was a Christian. So please don't pull that - you should be smarter. While "the church" definitely hated his ideas/theories, to simply describe this as Christians hating science would be revising history.

Darwin was a Christian.

I know; he originally wanted to be a minister of something. Reminds me of Hitler wanting to be a painter. Both should have stuck with their original aspirations

My question is, where is the proof of your non-evolution view? It seems contradictory to how nature works and I can't see having a understanding of the world and being able to stick to it. Where is your proof that makes you depute evolution?

I'm not going to argue evolution with you; I've made some of my problems with the theory known before, and  instead of challenging them people decided to attack me instead. Not my idea of fun for a Tuesday afternoon. As I said before, most of my problems are based on the basics of the theory, such as  the lack of any sort of amount of indisputed transitional forms or the mutation factor. But instead of discussing these issues the conversation turns to juvenile attacks and hyperbole. No one is willing to cede any ground or respect the beliefs of others.

Last time I checked Galileo was a Christian. So please don't pull that - you should be smarter. While "the church" definitely hated his ideas/theories, to simply describe this as Christians hating science would be revising history.

The reigning orthodoxy at the time was that the sun revolved around the Earth. The orthodoxy was party the fault of the Ancient Greeks, but it was mostly rooted in biblical scripture taken literally. The Church was simply reading the bible. At the time Protestants weren't much better as Luther said of Copernicus "the fool wants to turn the whole art of astronomy upside-down". Christians at the time were hostile to the idea because they believed it contradicted 'Holy Scripture'. Today fundies are against evolution for the very same reason.

Don't play dumb.

Nice comparing Darwin to Hitler by the way.
And Darwin only wanted to be in the clergy so that he would have time to study nature.

That is my problem with the religon coming from a christian. When any new facts contradict the bible they fight it tooth and nail. When it becomes to hard to over-come that passage from the bible is seen to be "not taken literally".

There are only two things I take literally, and without question:

1. My American Journey by Colin Powell

2. King James' Holy Bible on CD-ROM

Cheebs made it sound like all Christians at the time were against the idea, which is ironic because the very people who fought against the church in the idea's favor were...Christian guys. Mind=blown

Galileo argued that the Bible was not in contradiction to heliocentrism or Copernicanism. And looking at the verses, it isn't.

So I can't make obvious jokes anymore without being assaulted now? Hm I didn't see this coming ::)

He didn't believe the bible should be taken literally and was banished from holding his beliefs until a new pope was made.
