God, EXODUS is like the best album ever. Utada's broken lyrics are like fucking your hot ESL girlfriend. This is seriously one of my favorite albums of the past 5 years. It's like listening to anti-music that destroys your soul, replacing it with searing, brilliant light.

In all seriousness, I really love this album. Its quirkiness and almost atonal pop-structure has become quite endearing. There's really nothing out there like it...it's pop meets art meets beautiful failure. It reminds me of Poe's Haunted or Bowie's 1.Outside , in that respect.

The odd thing is, her spoken English is more-or-less fluent. I mean, she did grow up in NYC. It's just when she writes lyrics that everything goes bonkers.

the album is all over the place. easy breezy shes japaneasy aside its all kind of lost in translation.
