Title: After Hours>The Departed. The Most Under-Appreciated Marty Scorsese Film Ever
Post by: Cheebs on February 28, 2007, 11:15:16 PM
After FUCKING Hours!

Trailer:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=lLHM-wPecz0

The great Marty comedy film that ISNT King of Comedy. It has the most absurd plot of any film but it is done so in such a wonderful manner you accept it. The whole movie takes place over the course of one night and grows more and more absurd as it goes on. It's about a  somewhat geeky loner man decides after work to go out, he picked up a chick and the movie shows over the course of the night this man's life growing more absurd by the second.

It is fantastic and one of Marty's most under-looked films. Easily a 9/10 for me. EVERYONE who even halfway likes Marty should check out the DVD. It shows even more so than Last King of Comedy I think that Marty can do one hell of a comedy.

:bow I would love to see Marty try another comedy, the two times he did resulted in greatness.

I laughed a lot during Casino, so I consider that a comedy.

I love how Griffin Dunne is simultaneously aping both Al Pacino and De Niro in the trailer.  I haven't seen this movie in a while.  I might have to snag it now.

This is one of those great "wtf, WHO directed this?" movies.  It's pretty funny and becomes a very dark comedy before the end.  I saw this on TBS or something once when I was a wee young'un and had no idea it was a Scorsese movie.

The King of Comedy isn't really a comedy, in the classic sense, Cheebs.

Of course not. Im just saying its more of a black comedy/satire then an average comedy.

I'm trying to track down all of the Scorsese films to watch, so I will definitely check this out.

One problem with Kentucky: unless the movie is either a box office hit ($100 mil or more) or just devoid of any intelligence, you can't find these movies to buy or rent anywhere. I was lucky I found Casino at Wal-Mart.

Plus, I'm not big on ordering online. This might change though.

Well I am not comparing either to Billy Madison or anything.
