I don't know man, the 360 was sorta ass when it first came out. The only game that looked remotely interesting was Kameo and PGR3. The PS3 had Resistance. Now its got VF5 out now, and Motorstorm is coming out soon.
Them ain't no Fantavision!
My point being, the PS3 will hit its stride and that stride started up when VF5 was released.

motorstorm looks like shit. even though 360 had zero when it came out, it certainly had an assortment of titles (new or otherwise) in the horizon. by this time last year i knew i wanted a 360. right now, ps3 seems to be lucky to get an exclusive that isn't a regurgitated shitty sequel for a game series we've played a quadzillion times and most of it's support is going to 360 or multiplatform. there would be reasons to get a ps3 if most of its games weren't going to 360
what stride. i buy consoles for exclusives. vf5 is not an exclusive. with that logic, resident evil 4 help gc hit it's stride when it came out, despite the fact they announced it was going to ps2 like a month before it's release.

I think Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Ratchet and Clank, that Naughty Dog game all look great (titles that stand out to me).

i dont find it shitty. it's a nice machine but for games it seems to be everything i hate. That is: regurgitated sequels, crappy controller (wtf at those wannabe triggers), failed promises, and lack of exclusives.

But all in all just because theres nothing that interests you on the PS3, doesn't mean theres nothing at all for ANYONE. The games I listed are widely assorted and can branch to a large group.
And regurgitated sequels? For every sequel there looks to be a new IP. You can say the same shit about the 360
Crappy controller? Can't dispute that. All I know is that I've used the DS2 for years and I'm extremely comfortable with it.
Failed Promises? I haven't visited OA in a while so I forgot what promises they were (except for the Spring release). Point is, PS3 is already here and games are already coming out for it. The PSN is up and working, lots of people are having fun with Resistance Online (lots of Halo fans are having a blast with it).
lack of exclusives? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but I think we'll be seeing more games being announced soon. 1st party games look top notch though.

You should check out the Hemi-Sync Wave Travel (I think its called) Series that they provide. You can probably find it off a torrent site (like ISOHunt). But yeah, I've been wanting to check out the Institute too...I'll probably enter a program at some point in my life (hopefully). Heres to hopin you get to do it :)

yeah best of luck to you as well. I have a bunch of the gateway series, time to start to get back into it. The closest i had though to a full blown OBE was when i was 16, just regular trance meditation using techniques of Robert Bruce. I had full body vibrations, was paralysed etc but the sensation and sounds were.... to real for me. i got scared and brought myself out of it.
I still kick myself in the ass today. Had a bit of luck with phasing but honestly i have not been consistant with it. I've seen to hit a wall, but now that i am sober i think i may be able to go past it. The gatway series seems good, i can get to focus 10, but maybe it's not deep enough? i think i'll start with the first one again and try to work myself back up. Focus 12 was not to hard but maybe i was not "all the way" there.
i dunno.

Plus the backwards compatibility is a HELL of a lot better. The downside is that online sucks on this system. Live kills it.

There's a big difference between being able to afford it and just simply not having any use for it ATM. I make enough in one week (after taxes and diverting 16% of the paycheck into my 401k) to buy a 60gig, a copy of Motorstorm, and then go out to dinner afterwards, yet why don't I have a PS3? Simple... because I don't feel its worth it ATM.

That list means jack shit. In 2005, they were developing Devil Summoner and P3. Atlus was and still is concentrating on last gen hardware, not putting anything on the ps3.
Plus, there have been plenty of interviews since then, and they didn't even have a console set in stone, but Wii looks like the one they're shooting for.

Can you give us a link backing that up? This is the first I've heard of Atlus even thinking about putting SMT on the Wii.

1. At the moment, the only Shin Megami Tensei titles headed to the Wii are the Super Famicom titles for the Japanese Virtual Console. This may change, but I have been unable to find anything that claims otherwise.
2. Atlus is still planning on releasing a new Shin Megami Tensei title(s) on the PS3.

At TGS 2005 people still thought PS3 could be a success in the marketplace ala PS2. Sony is in a much different place with PS3 than back then. If you think they will still get all the major third party rpg titles when they are struggling in Japan then you are very confused.

Wii desperately needs some RPGs. Double Dungeons and Sword of Vermillion on the US VC just isn't doin it for me :P I would really love to see some SMT games on Wii, though I'm kinda worried that Atlus would reuse all the monster models from Nocturne again.

It will be like DS and take some time for all those small rpg dev's to jump on board. Hell, they might even jump to 360 for the more western friendly games. There is no way the budget for a PS3 game is worth it for them when the potential sales in japan are so low.

SMT isn't even major. It's niche. If you think that Atlus, a niche developer with a very not so high budget will pile games on the ps3 with little profit, you must be VERY confused.

L2G: What would a Wii MegaTen game be like?
Kaneko: Well, if you play Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga, they’re typical modern RPGs. You see your characters act from a third-person view. But as you and your readers probably know, the original MegaTen games used a completely different first-person viewpoint. I would love to go back to basics with MegaTen on the Wii and bring back the first-person perspective, while using the controller to let players experience their environments directly.
They haven't decided what console they're going to bring it to yet. Don't get your hopes up.
Thanks for the interview, I really couldn't find anything last night other than the Wii VC release of the first SFC SMT. I'd be ok with SMT on the Wii as long as it doesn't rely too much on a motion gimmick. I would want the core gameply to stay intact.
And, as hard as it may be to believe, just because I only own a PS3, I don't wish death on the 360 and/or Wii.

Gundam Musou is fucking awesome. I'm a total Gundam freak, but had no previous interest in the Musou games. You'll love it if you get the chance to play it.
The prospect of Final Fantasy XIII is what made me want a PS3, but Gundam Musou got me to buy the system right now.

The same question can be said for Wii, the only true major release I can think of slated for release on ps3 in Japan is FFXII. DMC isn't as popular in Japan as it is in America, and neither is MGS.

What? The difference is the value. 360 is more value to me, but ps3 isn't. If there were more ps3 games out and on the horizon that interest me, I'd gladly support it, but there's no reason for me to want one yet.
I already spent 250 on a console solely for potential rather than getting what I REALLY wanted (a 360), why should I pay 600 for a console for the same reason (potential)? When ps3 gets a steady release schedule and some good games and a price drop, I'll support it.

When? It IS going to get a few hundreds of worthwhile games, you KNOW it, why is it even a question? and it's whisper quiet unlike the hair dryer-like 360, that with HDMI is a much better way to enjoy the plethora of multiplatform titles that are all going to be the same on both systems anyway-- these games are SCHEDULED, many are based on the success franchises that both the PS1 and PS2 hosted, these aren't vague promises or future potential but instead solid gaming gold, and there are dozens if not hundreds of undergoing projects that we don't know of plus all the first party stuff
and you didn't sell that Wii yet when you can get more dough for it than it would cost someone to get it new if they could find it on shelves? :lol

Nintendo 64 ports had to be crippled or downright avoided because of the lilipucian storage space and the high cost of producing cartridges massively, many planned N64 projects never saw the light of day
most third party ports are going to develop tools and engines to craft their games for both next-gen platforms conveniently, and Sony's studios and original efforts simply stomp on Microsoft's, as will the Japanese gaming industry's offerings
nearly all these games (http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html) are guaranteed to come and it's just begun, beyond what happens as far as game industry drama goes this is a system that is guaranteed to have an extremely diversified and solid line-up that plentifully justifies the initial investment, living up to its brandname legacy

By this time last year 360 had Graw and Oblivion. I don't think PS3 has any games that big hit it except VF5. I think that with a comparison of game quality, 360 still beats out ps3 if we're using the 4-5 months out debate.

If Wii Play sales are massive in the next NPD even after all the horrible reviews and hate it got then the thing is going to be damn unstopable with casual gamers even at the sheer confusion from gamers here and elsewhere.

come on dude, look at some upcoming Wii release list, and you'll find one generic licensed game and PS2/PSP port after another, that's UNBELIEVABLE
if Super Paper Mario and Fire Emblem weren't to be released on it mine would probably not even be turned on all year long

Who knows if Wii will be number one. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Remeber: Halo and GTAIV on the same system will be a huge factor and probably make 360 more popular than Wii, if not even. Also, I think that Wii hype will begin to die down in the influx of VIRTUALLY NO GAMES AT ALL coming out for it.
I think that many wii owners will begin to see the thing as a gimmick, and that it's the same as traditional games. It's just different, and when I say different, I mean having to learn how to control games for 2 hours different, and replace normal controls with stupid gimmicks like drawing hearts to do super tricks different. Not a good different.
