Title: It looks like I am going BACK 2 SCHOOL

Nah, I had my reasons. They're good reasons. And they've helped me grow as a person. There are lot of life experience I would've never had if I stayed in school, completely bored to death. It doesn't work the same for all people.

Like, everyone single person from that program that graduated got a job with decent money - it's in the right market (San Fran = DESIGN MECCA!). One of the big selling points was with my work experience and portfolio, they felt they could get me freelance work while in school and that I could test out of some classes altogether.

It won't stop me from writing. My goal is to write a teleplay next. But I've got to pay the bills and design is what paid the bills in Hollywood and will likely pay 'em here too. Got a lead on some contract design work by the pier.

A lot of the people I know who graduated from art institute are having trouble getting jobs because they don't have official degrees

I don't think you're thinking of the same school. The Art Institute of California - San Francisco is a four year, accredited institution. Now with a grad program, no less.

Yeah, they're going to be at GDC in force this year. They've got faculty members directly working with groups like Electronic Arts, no less.

Schools like Digipen, SMU, Full Sail (shitty ads, but they produce some great grads) and AIoCSF have top-notch placement programs, and their teaching staff are often producers at places like Nintendo, Sega, EA, MS, Sony, Capcom et al.
