Both are sucky but I must say 50 killed him with Funeral Music. But then again Cam also wins for pissing 50 off this much. For some reason the richest and most powerful people in hip hop feel that they need to respond to Dipset. Why is that? Whatever they do to piss rich people off it's pretty damn successful.
That "Cuuuurrrtiiis" phone call had me cracking up when I heard. :lol
Bubble gum gangsta is pretty much spot on, PD. It's complete crap. They're trying to come off as "hard", but then follow it up with choruses that sound right out of a Boyz II Men song.

It doesn't make any sense. There's nothing sinister or unsettling about hearing someone sing an off key ditty. Once you listen to NWA for ten minutes it becomes evident that G-Unit is a joke. NWA, Geto Boys, Ice Cube, etc all had rather "hard" and violent lyrics, but usually there was a political, Malcolm X before Mecca underlining. The underline for G-Unit seems to be "money money money".

Highlighted for truthiness.
I mean, obviously it's debatable exactly how "gangsta" NWA were anyway, but at least they sounded the part. I don't understand how 50 Cent's stuff can sound so much more dated than Straight Outta Compton, which still sounds amazingly fresh, even today.
Public Enemy are the same - Black Steel is still hugely affecting and angry. I don't hear anything in 50 Cent or G-Unit that's going to have any sort of lasting appeal.

He lost his ghetto pass.
I agree. There has been much discussion about the backgrounds of the various members of NWA, but despite that they managed to make "smart" gangsta music that sound quite authentic. Then there are those groups like Mobb Deep and Geto Boys who indeed lived what they rapped about.
The current day gangsta rap lacks any sort of emotional weight that gives you the impression the person is even serious. Black Steel has a level of anger that is pretty damn effective. The same can be said of Tupac's work. And to further discredit this gangsta rap bubble gum, it's built off extremely simplistic word play and lyrics. Biggie made a lot of party songs, but even his most juvenile songs featured complex wordplay and impressive flows. Big Poppa isn't just some regular party song lol.
Not fly like you?YEAH BOOOOOOOOYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
