I was going over the bonus material, as I just picked up the DVD last week, and I'm not sure how I feel about having Somerset shoot Doe instead of Mills.
-
You should feel aroused. Or at least I think that was the desired effect. :-\
-
Well, I just don't buy Somerset turning a gun on to Mills in the first place, so I'm glad that was never shot. Plus, it seems too much like a happy ending. Let's pin the murder on the old, black guy about to retire. :-\
-
That kinda ruins the whole point of the movie doesn't it?
-
The point of the movie was that Brad Pitt sucks and Morgan Freeman would've never let no serial killer touch his beautiful, pregger white woman.
-
wait what
-
wait what
DID YOU SEE THE MOVIE?
-
No shit.

While Seven is definitely a very good movie I can't help but think Pitt was absolutely horrible in it. The last scene was so damn tense and dramatic but it's almost ruined by his forced attempts at emotion
WHAT'S IN THE BOX? C'mon...no, no, no. What's in the box! No, oh god, oh god, mmmm, oh god, gargle gargle (http://www.opa-ages.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/lloyd.gif)

Pitt is never good at those scenes

Lloyd actually did a better job than Mills :lol

Nope, not yet. Want to, though.
-
Whaaat, they actually planned on having Brad shoot Morgan? That would of been lame.
-
No, they were having a standoff and then Morgan shoots Spacey's character and says something like, "I'm retiring." FADE TO BLACK.
-
Oh. I don't know how I feel about that one then.
-
I didn't really care for the alternate opening either. It added a little more humanity to the Somerset character, but it didn't really fit in with the movie as a whole.
-

:lol
My sentiments exactly!
-
The alternate ending is a terrible example of trying to have your cake and eat it too. In other words, the studio knew that the audience wouldn't stand for the movie ending with John Doe alive. The studio also knew that the audience would be pissed if John Doe was killed by Mills, because it was exactly what Doe wanted. Having Somerset kill Doe was the only solution where Doe dies and loses. The problem is that the alternate ending doesn't feel true to the characters at all. I'm glad it was never shot.
-
I would have liked Mills to not become wrath, and not kill Doe (pistol whip him a few times though, perhaps). Then Doe's "masterpiece" would have been totally fucked.
Anyways, I love the theatrical ending anyways. Especially Somerset's Hemingway line.
-
I'm glad they didn't shoot the unshot ending. The Theatrical is much better.
But yeah, my sentiments exactly, I really don't know how to feel about the unshot one anyways.
