Silver coins being made from WTC and sold at a high price? Not really. The price is high though.
-
I would hope that at least a goodly portion of the proceeds were going to the victims' families, but perhaps I expect too much given the state of our society. Our culture's audacious commodifcation of a national tragedy -- from the recent movie to these coins -- is repugnant imo.

Bush knocked down the towers
-
Do I find it disgusting that someone is profiting off the government-caused deaths in the Trade Center towers?
Um, yes. Yes, I do.
-
IF U DON'T BUY THESE COINS MADE FROM THE SILVER FILLINGS OF DEAD WTC VICTIMS THEN THE TERRORISTS HAVE ALREADY WON :punch
-
You can melt them down for bullets to kill Terrorist Werewolves.
-
Cheap and tacky
-
it is sad and pathetic but its almost as bad as those We will never forget flags and car bumper packages that flooded the market after 9 11.
Still its pathetic that they will profit off it.
-
I always laugh at the fucking infomercial whenever I see it on TV. Rising towers on an itty-bitty coin? WTF?
-
How are people desperate enough for something like this?
-

I'm sure we could get the vampires on our side. They hate muslims for all that clothing covering their neck.

Doesn't bother me in the least. If anything, it's funny.
What would I gain from being offended or saddened? It may be a scuzzy thing to do, but I certainly don't want this type of thing to be illegal. I'm sure they're not making much money. Neither of the 9/11 movies were blockbusters.

Yeah, but people buy this expecting to sell it one day.

Good, let them make money. There are so many better things to get angry about. I'm of the belief that anger should only be used as a motivational tool. I don't see any serious problem with people making money off 9/11 coins, thus I don't care. If people buy them, and enjoy them, the seller is doing a public service, regardless of his intent.
People always throw around "Profiting off the deaths of others," as if it's a bad thing. What about something like Schindler's List? If it is done well, somehow it's no longer disgusting? Does the person profiting have to be someone who was affected by the tragedy? If a Nazi made Schindler's List exactly how it was, wouldn't it still be a good film?

Wouldn't lack of motivation cause anger? And Schindler's List goes into depth about how the guy was such a good samaritan and then shows survivors that he helped visiting his grave I think while this isn't at all in any way about honoring the people that died on 9/11. It's just people with falsely inflated ego's thinking they're proud of something.
