Hate to bitch, but I agree with this.  Everything feels a little... slow.  Still, I'm enjoying my stay here.

We installed phpbb, but Willco preferred SMF so ultimately we went with this cause he's the boss.

There also used to be a "new" icon beside topics with new posts, but I hacked it out at Willco's request. I can put it back in if enough people want it, I suppose.

Bacon... Yeah, I think that's something we need to address.  But address inquiries like this into cloudwalking's FAQ.

As for the forum being slow, we're not dedicated and our host has had some hiccups.  If it continues, we'll pony up the cash by prostituting demi and get more power.

I like this forum software simply because it's different. It doesn't seem so bad, either.

phpbb is way easily hacked, woudnt reccomend it.  :'(

Willco is right, it's not the forum software that's causing things to be slow, it's the host. We already got a lot more traffic than we anticipated on this first day. It hasn't even been 24 hours.

It boiled down to the admin panel.  SMF is much easier and more comprehensive, and as so, has spared us of some joke characters today.  If phpBB 3 has a better admin panel, we'll look into it.  We're not carved in stone!

I'm having a love/hate relationship with this "You might want to re-think your post since someone just posted" thingie.  It's cool and shitty at the same time.

It's easily removed.  I guess if enough people dislike it, we can take it out.

Yeah, I can see it being annoying to some people. If enought people complain I will shitcan it, but for now we're just trying to get a feel for what works and what doesn't.

Nobody does.

SMF is fine for now.  It's pretty easy to manage from our stand point and any legitimate concerns of y'all we will most certainly address.  TBS brought up some good points about the layout, and these are things we can change.  Nothing's set in stone, but I don't predict a move to vB or Invision or a big money board for awhile since we're so small.  If phpBB 3 has a better admin panel, we'll take a definite look at that, though.

We will be upgrading the board software to a newer version July 31st. Here are the things that will be adressed:

Please post any questions or other suggestions for changes you would like to see in this thread.

We need the quote function that OA has where you can quote multiple posts before hitting Reply to respond to them.

Also need better smileys  :-\

That is all.

OK, the 'keep me logged in' thing needs to be fixed.

If I close out the site and re-open it again, I'm forced to log in again. Setting the 'keep me logged in' thing only works while I'm actually here.

If I'm not mistaken, this forum software allows for supplemental themes and skins that are selectable by the user. Couldn't this be added in some future upgrade?

Solo, we're addressing that.  Basically, with the lack of dedicated hosting, I think we're straining the connections for our simple shared hosting.  For some, the forum runs swift, for others it's bad - so we need to fix that.  With the software upgrade and a hosting upgrade, we should be good.  We weren't expecting this kind of intial response.

Haha, the forum was slow at home but it's blazing for me at work.  Go figure.

Yeah, I think that's the lack of dedicated hosting.  Don't worry, we're going to sell mugs with EviLore's face on them to pay for our new server fees.

Also, will this forum eventually be sorted with both a gaming section and a OT section like GA, or will we keep seeing a single forum with a hybrid of both gaming and OT topics like on OA?

I vote not readable to guests. Why should the rejected be blessed to view our digital myrrth?

Plus, it's further incentive not to get banned. That way, if someone fucks themselves up to exile, they won't even have the privilege to lurk.

I personally would post more game stuff if there was a dedicated place to do so. The fact this is so OT dominated makes me less likely to post gaming. I am probably just weird like that though.
