Is that a speech or a freaking sermon? Hm he seems to do it without being combative. But at the same time I've always found it extremely hypocritical when liberals rail on Republicans for pandering to fundementals when every four years the Democrats make their own visit to black churches. Did you hear Hillary's church speech in Alabama? Pathetic

Are you questioning messiah?

I can't wait until we discover his white mistress

White women will only love him that much more.
-
You know why he and hillary are doing this a lot right? More than Kerry and Gore did?
Howard Dean has been actively secretly meeting with Christian leaders the politico(a new spin-off awesome paper of the Washington post) says more than the party has done in decades. Howard Dean is assuming if Rudy is the nominee the christian right will be lost and confused and is setting up a opportunity to swoop in on them.
Will it work? Fuck no. But Dean is preparing to a gamble that Rudy can cause the Christian right to switch sides and is telling his candidates to set up the woodwork for a potential ship jump of the christian right it seems.
-
Why is a white republican posting threads about a black democrat?
-
I am curious what you guys think about Dean's outrageous hope that Rudy can cause the Religious Right to switch parties.
-
It doesn't make sense. The main issue that seperates Christians from voting for Democrats is abortion. Obama supports abortion. Hillary supports abortion. End of story.
If anything Rudy could possibly cause many Christians to stay home. There's no way they'd vote for Hillary and put Bill back into the White House

Rudy is a bit more un-pc about it is the thing the Dem's are probably eyeing.
Rudy says stuff about the NRA and gun control that the Democrats would be afraid for their lives to admit. :lol

By using the term 'religious right' you are making it seem like it's extremely ridiculous. One thing to keep in mind is most on the religious right believe in big government paternalism so are not a bad fit for Democrats. I believe a majority of Evangelicals voted for Carter, so nothing is impossible.
However I don't think Dean believes he can turn many religious Republicans, he just believes he can turn some, and that's enough.
Dark not all Christians want abortion illegal. Even Republican Christians!

Most Christians want abortion illegal. Lets not kid ourselves here.
Carter was different. He's a guy who did sunday school in the White House; no one else has done this except him in more than 100 years :lol
-
Carter was the most evangelical christian to ever serve in the white house. It was before the Reagan revolution where the Christian right became VERY active so no one seemed to mind.

Carter was loved by Christians for a long time. His weakness as a president is what lost him support when Reagan came around. Reagan had a similar, comfortable feel yet he gave people the impression that he could protect them. It's not surprising why so many people on both sides of the political divide either love or respect him.
-
He wasn't a good president in the traditional sense. But damn, was he ever the most honest and nice man to ever serve that job.
He is what the country NEEDED after Watergate. No one could have fully healed the wounds of watergate other than a a "aww shucks" mr. rogers esque president like Jimmy Carter and history I believe will agree on that.

Nearly a third of Republicans are 'pro-choice' and one-fourth of Democrats are against abortion. It doesn't have to be a deal breaker.
According to a recent CNN poll only 29% of Americans want to overturn Roe versus Wade. This suggests most Christians don't want abortion illegal.

yet 50% of this country votes and the evangelical pro-lifer's are very active in voting thus in the electorate they hold a stronger position than they do as a country as a whole.

I'm not a fan of polls.

I'm not a fan of counter evidence
If you don't like polls then how do you know that the majority of Christians want abortion illegal?

There are more than 100 million fundemental Christians in this country. The defition of the term alone should guarentee that they'll be against abortion (God's statement on Joshua). As someone who's lived around non fundementals for 20 years I can tell you most Christians - just like Catholics - are against abortion.
-
To be fair how many of them even know what roe vs. wade is or even means?

I think they know enough about it lolz. Personally I would love to see some things about abortion revised and restricted.

People pick and choose what they want to follow, including fundies. I don't see anyone stoning non-virgin brides or forcing rape victims to marry their rapists.
Also you seem to value anecdotal evidence too much.

Not long ago he said that PARTIAL BIRTH abortions should be payed by tax dollars so the poor have just as much right as the rich.
He was aked about his liberal side and said he would like to run as both a democrat and a republican if he could. :lol
I am not voting for him but oh my god his presidency would be the most entertaining thing ever. Everything about it would be so out of the ordinary.

Anecdotal, perhaps.

PD who is against partial birth abortion in a election between a black guy and the biggest abortion supporter in any party will pick the person the opposite race of him and the one farthest away from his view on abortion.

No, they won't pick anyone. I don't think you understand the moral vote. If they're against abortion they won't vote for anyone who supports it

The Christian right will stay home like they have done in the past. 1992 comes to mind. The christian right did not like H.W. Bush AT ALL
