I think. Has anyone seen it in stores? Anyone?
PSP or PC version? (DS version is obviously not correct.)
Are we going to have PCers form an online league?
-
PSP version, got it pre-ordered.
-
I'm going to try and get it next week. Where can you buy the PC version, though?
-
Is the PC version box product, or available as direct-download...?
-
DS Version coming soon from GameFly.
-
Wonder what it LOOKS like on DS. I remember the difference between Gunpey PSP and Gunpey DS. The DS art was soooo bad.

Waiting for PSP version to hit torrent, and DS review copy to come in
-
Gamespot says that mandatory stylus controls and smaller art on the DS version make for a lot of HEAVILY PENALIZED illegal moves. PSP wins again!
-
Mandatory stylus controls?! jesus.
-

Gamespot and I do not always agree, but whatevs. More people own DSs than PSPs so I'll have more people to battle online!
-
mandatory stylus control am deal breaker total, and going by the demo it DOES penalize you for wrong moves. Unlike say, bejeweled, a game that just makes a cutesy noise and corrects your error.
-
Stop drinking so much and your hands won't shake so badly.
-
get glasses and upgrade to a handheld with a post-1993 resolution!
-
when's the PC version out? I MUST KNOW.
-
I already have glasses and I prefer my portable gaming machines to actually have some games I like to play, but let's not turn EVERY thread into a console war of some sort, okay?
-
don't get yer hackles up! what's a little friendly exchange of nerd-fueled abuse if not fun, comrade!

Neither handheld have online
-
Neither handheld have online
you're fucking kidding me. >:(
-
The PC game is online, though! And it looks sweet!
-
I'd rather play Puzzle Pirates on the PC. Goddamn it, now I don't know if I'm going to buy this game.
-
FUCKING GAMECRAZY I GOTTA WAIT UNTIL FRIDAY ARGH KILL ME FUCKSHIT
-
This looks sweet and theres tons of hype amongst you guys. I dont have a PSP so if the DS version blows its a no go for me. I entered a competition today to win a WHITE PSP so fingers crossed lol. I'll be getting Capcom vs SNK Cards instead
-
Scenester, just get the PC version. The demo is out now and it's fantastic.
-
Is the PC version out today?
-
Not that I'm aware of - you're supposed to be our undercover insider of all things Puzzle Quest related. Get Steve Fawkner on the phone, because I need answers!
-

Wheres a good place to DL it?
-
GO GO GO GO DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD! (http://www.gamedaily.com/canvases/gd/_a/download-puzzle-quest-demo/20070315101009990002)
-
But where from? bah I'll just google it when I get home. Im at work now. Sweet Im getting pumped to play me some Puzzle Quest.
EDIT: Oh its a link..... now I feel stupid lol
-
How much is the PC version? Why get a handheld version if you lose online?
And what's so bad about stylus-only controls? Seems appropriate.
-
Stylus will blow. If you make an illegal move, you get penalized (health, plus loss of turn, I think). It's very easy to click on the wrong gem/icon.
-
I honestly dont get why gamecrazy doesnt at LEAST ship to meet pre-orders. Wtf
-
Yeah this is a good game. I'd imagine PSP will be the superior format, although I can see the DS version being pretty good too.

Not with a mouse...?
-
I think it has more to do with the amount of real-estate given to the DS version and the mandatory use of the stylus.
Basically the more puzzle crammed in a square inch, the smaller the target for each piece of the puzzle. Unlike say bejeweled, a wrong accidental move equals a pretty large pentalty iirc.
-
It doesnt make sense why they made stylus moves mandatory.
-
Probably a Nintendo mandate.
-
Not with a mouse...?
That was my point, kind of. Even with the mouse I would click on the wrong gem once in awhile.
-
MAF is right, though. It's easier on a PC because the screen is huge. There is also a safe guard in place as you have to click the gem, then move it. It's not just a matter of drag and drop. Harder to do on a tiny DS screen, and I haven't played it all, so it may have just broken controls from the start.
The truth is, even with the PC, I like controlling it better on the PSP.
-
Let's face it, the DS could fucking blow you while you play Puzzle Quest and this crowd would still prefer a different version
-
PSP torrent is out -- only 75MB :o
Even smaller when compressed as a CSO! Wow wow!
-

That's so not true! Everyone here owns a DS Lite and MAF and I are champions of the format!
-
Blow you and cook you dinner, even. Followed by a backrub. THE PSP VERSION IS STILL SUPERIOR
-
We're just calling it how we see it. Are you going to take low res art and smaller real estate with apparently gimpy controls or perfectly fine directional pad with high res art and much larger area to solve puzzles and whatnot?
-
I'm going to take what I got, my man
-
Then just buy the PC version when that's available and we'll have online tournaments.
-
Console wars lol
-
I just dont why someone would buy a version thats actually flawed on a very tangible level.
Stylus DOESNT work for everything. Making it mandatory was a mistake, and you can be damned sure it wasn't the developers choice.
-
I don't know. If it was MANDATORY in games, then why can I control Meteos with the stylus or the d-pad?
Since none of us have played the DS version yet - right? - saying OMG IT SUX is just a BIT premature.

Yeah, I am sure D3 (publisher of EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 2017) just up and said "make it mandatory."
You dumb dumb, it was obviously the designer's choice. Shut up. Go back to modding.
-
UH OH
DS VERSION CONFIRMED SUPERIOR
STEVE FAWKNER ADMITS PSP VERSION IS BROKEN

wow just wow
-
I am going to wait to hear demi's reviews before deciding to get this game or not.
-
You should play the demo like I did
-
demi: go back to lurking
-
You should play the demo like I did
Well I would be getting the DS version if it got a good review.
-
From Kotaku:
After reading a bunch of impressions about the Puzzle Quest download on the PC, I just assumed that the game was going to be released on the PC as well.
I might be right, but it hasn't been announced yet.
According to D3 Publisher they just put the demo on the PC because that's the easiest way to get it out to a lot of people quickly. But the demo itself is showing off the PSP and DS play for the game.
I found this out when I called the company yesterday to ask for a copy to review for the newspaper. I was surprised to hear the publicist tell me that the game hadn't yet been announced for the PC. When I pressed her by saying things like "But it's coming to the PC right?" and "Do you think it will be out this month?" I was met with silence.
I suspect that the PC version must be in the wings, judging but the conversation I had, but no date has yet been set. So that's what I get for assuming.
YEAH GOOD FUCKING WORK GUYS! GET THE PC VERSION, WE'LL BATTLE EACH OTHER!
-
AHUAHUAHUAHUAHUA
DS CONFIRMED SUPERIOR TWICE OVER
Can't wait for my review copy!
-
Will this mean you post less? If so I cant wait till you get your copy either!
-
From Penny Arcade:
Strangely, the demo that has everyone so hooked can't be converted into a sale - the game isn't even announced for the PC, the platform is simply being used to promote the two official releases - one for the PSP, and one for the DS. Unfortunately, I think the PC version has probably spoiled players with its comparatively lavish screen real estate: screens from both portable platforms look cramped by comparison, trying to tuck in all the metadata that makes the game unique.
-
No PC version?! :suicide
Actually, it's pretty clever tactic, because it will force people to buy PSP/DS version. I'm patient .. I'll wait those fuckers out.
-
haha, 'buy' the psp version. While I KNOW I am slapping money down for the psp version, the amount of piracy on the PSP a handheld...hell even on the DS, is pretty silly these days. To hold off on a PC version because it might get pirated is a bad idea. Popcap for example still makes gobs and gobs of money off their PC releases.
-
Piracy on DS is irrelevant because the amount of people who buy the software overshadows the people who pirate the games, Nintendo is still making bank
Piracy on PSP is just badass and awesome and we must do our part to make sure the PSP never succeeds
80MB fingerprint on my memory stick -- Puzzle Quest FTW

There will be a PC version, it just was never announced. I am sure you'll be able to buy one, but not within the same month as the PSP/DS version
-
sure puts a cramp in my style - my steeze, if you will - Willco. :wag
-
The PC version was never going to be released this week - the demo was just released a few days ago and the game was completely unannounced for the platform 'till then! Go get the DS version 'till then.
-
even with the horrendous bug, get the PSP version over the DS version!
