Newsweek has an article on exercise and the brain.

Newsweek makes some unwarranted conclusions from correlative data, but it's undoubtedly true that exercise has positive mental effects. Anecdotally, I am more mentally alert and positive when I work out on a regular basis. Unfortunately, every timer I hit the school's gym I get an allergic reaction (I believe from the chlorine fumes) and have not worked out much since November.

Great article. I feel so much more alert and aware at work since I started working out. It's great, I'm going twice a day now.
No matter your age, it seems, a strong, active body is crucial for building a strong, active mind.

I don't get the problem. I can eat what ever I like and I stay the same. It started when i was depressed and its just carried on. Only good thing that came from that time :lol

I can eat anything and not gain weight lol. Last time I had any huuuge weight gain was when I went on a cruise and gained 9 pounds in a week - from eating ice cream nearly 24/7. That was in 2001 :lol
You'd just be walking around and there'd be a place to eat, or a worker would come up and give you some food. OMG

I just started back at the beginning of the year and have lost 13 pounds so far. Now, if only I could diet seriously, I could have lost much more.
In my personal experience, the positive mental aspects of working out (more energy and better mood) goes away after 6-8 months.
