Obama has reported today he has raised $25 million in Q1 for the primary. Hillary reported raising 26 million $10 million from her senate account. However it turns out Hillary has inflated her number by counting both money rasied for the general(you can't use money raised for the general untill you officially become the nominee) AND the primary. Edwards, Romney, Rudy, & McCain all reported primary money only. In terms of primary cash without using PR spin including general money which is useless unless you win Obama is in the lead.
It is being reported that for the primary the official ranking is
1. Obama
2. Clinton
3. Romney
4. Rudy
5. Edwards
6. McCain
Hillary's money advantage is DEAD and most believe Obama's lead in money will grow in Q2 since mos of Obama's money came from indiivudal doners of less than $100 while Hillary's by a much larger margin were from a smaller group of people giving the max amount of $2300. Under the law you can only give $2300 and no more, thus Hillary's doners cant give more but Obama's can.
WHAT NOW PD?
-
Meh, she's gonna kick his ass in the primaries :(
-
You said she will have a ton more money than him. Where is that now? Obama is outraising her in the primary and trends show he is likely to increase his lead this next quarter.
-
I don't believe he's going to keep this money lead. In fact, there's no way he will. Hillary is the establishment choice, and a rather special one due to her connections. She's going to have the resources to trounce everyone in the Democratic party and you know it
-
You aren't impressed he came out of nowhere and raised the most money?
-
I really fuckin' hope he becomes President.
-
I'm not impressed at all. It's clear many white people love giving him money to make themselves feel less prejudiced.
He's the hot thing right now. And as of now he hasn't even faced any controversy. Once stuff starts coming up expect him to deflate, and democrats will foolishly fall into Hillary's lap
-

That muslim school thing got a lot of play

That muslim school thing got a lot of play
It died down once it was debunked. But even there the stigma of him possibly being a muslim remains in people's minds.
-
Yeah I saw a poll a month or two back asking people what religion Obama was. A decent chunk, 15%ish I believe said he was muslim.
-
Im totally goin Obama, Hillary is f'n insane.

We should just start making a thread every time PD is actually RIGHT about something. Far fewer threads will be made this way!

This is very true.

Who ever wins, we lose, because who ever has the most money has the most means with which to annoy the shit out of us on TV, and with phone calls.
Not to mention all those ugly signs, and ugly bumper stickers.
I'm going to vote for who ever annoys me the least.

Kucinich! He has no money.

Please explain why people are going to vote for Hillary. Please. What part of that psychocunt appeals to anyone?

How am I wrong on Obama? It's fucking April 2007 and people are declaring me wrong? :lol
The primaries haven't even started. Hillary is going to raise more money than him and spend more money

I think you have a better chance of winning the washcloth argument.
-
nicca I already won the washcloth argument. I'm not the one smelling like wet dog
-
Well then it would be smart to quit while you're ahead. :lol
-
PD in Q1 of 2003 want to know who the top 2 money makers were? Edwards & Kerry. That combination sound familiar?
A year before the primary the so called "money polls" have A LOT of sway. Back when Kerry & Edwards were doing bad in polls with Lieberman in the lead they made the most money in Q1 and they eventually were the ticket in 2004.
-
And guess what? Hillary and Obama won't be on the same ticket: one of them is going to win, and I'm putting my money on Hillary.

Why the hell would anyone vote.

I'm betting on a Hillary-Edwards ticket or an Obama-Edwards ticket... though of course I hope its Obama that becomes president. But as long as its not Rudy :punch or McCain :punch I don't care who gets elected.

I still don't get what you place your faith in her getting the nomination on. She has no money advantage and Democrats tend to rebel against the establishment choice every single open primary since post-FDR.
LBJ was the establishment, Kennedy was the fresh face. Who got the nod?
Carter and Clinton were both insurgent candidates to take on the big names in their respective primaries. Bill Clinton lost all the early primaries and yet he had his come back.
Also tiesto edwards will not take the vp slot again he has made that very apparent
-
If its between Hillary and the Mormon guy I dunno what choice I actually get. I dont think mormon guy himself is crazy, but the mormon church sure knows how to politik in the shadows even if they say they dont.

I don't think Edwards stands a chance :(
-
Edwards was always running for VP, no matter what he says. If he really was serious he'd quit the race and take on Dole in his home state. Lets see how likable you really are buddy. I've been wary of him since the end of the 04 race. Here's a guy who was once very likable and cute by political standards, but lost nearly all his air when Obama sailed into the harbor. Now Edwards' campaign is only afloat due to controversy and tragedy. The former concerning Ann Coulter's comments, and the latter concerning his wife's cancer; as far as I'm concerned, both have helped his campaign. Both that won't be enough for him to overthrough the power structure that is Hillary/Obama.
Maybe he could pull some kind of miracle upset in Iowa and see a ripple effect. I doubt it, but it's certainly happened before

I was trying to do a parody of a phrase I saw on Opa ages a lot a while ago. I guess you can tell I don't visit there as often as here. :lol
You're still wrong about washcloths though. :P
-
:lol
Fair enough!
-
BTW, what word were you going for with "outrases" Cheebs, outraces or outraises?
-
here's the rumpus. Hilary hasn't even invoked the Clinton campaign machine yet and once that starts rolling everyone better get out of the fucking way... Hillary wins the Dem nomination.
As a result of Hillary getting the nomination the Reps get the presidency (no matter who runs) and regain control of Senate. Way to go Hillary, you have rejuvenated a republican party that was on the brink. welcome to 2010 mid year election and another bout of absolute republican control... hope you're happy dems, you fucking ass-twats.
BTW, I always ALWAYS vote Dem, to bad my vote will be wasted this year. [Arizona]At least Harry Mitchell made it to congress this last election, maybe as an incumbent he can hold onto his seat for a while.[/Arizona]
-
(no matter who runs) and regain control of Senate. Way to go Hillary, you have rejuvenated a republican party that was on the brink.
They won't regain the senate no matter who wins, no matter by how much. Hell the Reagan massive wins didn't turn over congress from the dems.
Plus the numbers are so against them even if they win in a landslide for president. Even the GOP says they can't see a way to regain the senate. The GOP has 22 seats up, the Democrats only 12. Many of the Republican's are up in swing states and they include multiple retirements in the swing states. Democrat's 12 are nearly all in democratic strongholds and they don't have a single open seat.
Even if Rudy won in the same sweep as a Reagan the Democrats would still hold onto the Senate.
Plus remember the republicans still have their senate campaign committee they used in 2006 which is a fucking mess, the Democrats one is a powerhouse. No matter who wins the Democrats should easily pick up 3 senate seats.
