Is it multiplayer?
-
Yeah I dont do multiplayer with people tho, it drags down my efficiency
-
I'd be playing this right now if my monitor wasn't dead on my desktop. :'(
-
HOW R U READING THIS
-
I picked it up for 20 bucks at Wal-mart, but put it back down. I think I made a poor decision.
Maybe next time.
-
Make sure you save up and get the expansion too, it essentially fixes the game.
-
I want this type of game on the DS.
Damn I haven't played a hack n slash game since Balder's Gate: Dark Alliance. That game was so omg fun I need to experience that again
-

Well, I'm glad I didn't buy it then. I will just wait for the eventual value pack.
-
The first release was fine but it was 'just another diablo clone, but the expansion honestly changes the entire experience.
-
Yeah, I wouldn't dig this game very much without the expansion. The extra act is easily the best of the four, and all the extra meta features and itemized loot propel the game from "decent diablo-like with pretty graphics" to a game that I feel is way better than D2 was.
Level 55 now and am bursting with so many PURPLEZ that I now have a mule character called PURPLEZ. On Act 1 Legendary.
-
HOW R U READING THIS
Laptop. It's graphical powa is too inferior to run anything gamewise however. :'(
-
Frag: Yeah the whole 'better than diablo 2' thought cropped up in my mind too lol.
-
WHERE CAN I BUY THIS FOR TEH CHEAPZ
-
A STORE LOL I dunno
-
okay LOL
-
I love the various pieces of armor in this game, here's a screen I found online.

BUY THIS GAME IF YOU EVER DESIRED A DIABLO 2 SEQUEL
BUY IT OR SO HELP ME GOD I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN LIKE A FILTHY STRAY AND STRANGLE YOU WITH YOUR OWN INTESTINES
-
I need to get the expansion. On a scale of numbers how awesome is it's awesomeness?
-
The expansion makes a meh game a :D game.
-
yup. the expansion takes a second-rate Diablo 2 clone with pretty graphics and turns it into pure unfiltered awesome fired straight into your gaming prostate.
-
I do sometimes think 'HRM this might be better than diablo 2' which is a very scary thought.
-

I will continue to keep my hopes up.

Nope. NEVER

dude, he ain't shittin' ya.

Played some more Titan Quest again last night between some team games of Supreme Commander. Doing that farming after I finished epic has really made Legendary a breeze so far-the only thing that's been a problem has been the Hydra, and I just kited it back to the Athens guards to kill it because I'm a hoser that way. I actually had some maxed resists-I probably should have given it an honest's shake-but the MMO instincts of abusing NPCs for loot gain was just too great to overcome.
Going to shelf it for a bit after I'm done with Legendary. I'll pull it out later this year when Hellgate: London comes out and will probably not be the game I am hoping it will be. :'(
Regarding D2-the only thing D2 has on this game is always-up servers for people that like to haggle over SOJs or get really into the setting and backstory of a roguelike game (lol). The itemization with Immortal Throne is as good, the level design is as good, and the art is better mainly because it ISN'T designed to run on a Pentium 2 or what not-it's pretty, it's high-rest, and it has awesome looking effects, instead of D2's dither me timbers color pallete and cheap 2D spell effects.
-
I got a new purple shield last night frag, its some translucent green shield. Its skill disrupt and energy drain resistance are all 100%+ but sadly losing the 31% pierce resistance in epic mode has knocked me a negative resistance, but who cares I have almost 5000 HP lololol.
Plus it just looks cool :D
-
why did I buy Super Paper Mario instead of Titan Quest + Expansion ;_;
LOL THE LOCALISATION MAKSE FUN OF GAF LOL 11/10
-
Titan Quest + Expansion is great. Ive got a level 44 character in Epic mode, a level 18 character in Normal (Pure pet class baby). I've got a hunter that will dual in rogue too.
-
why did I buy Super Paper Mario instead of Titan Quest + Expansion ;_;
Finish it fast, resell it, and buy Titan Quest.
-
Yeah isnt Paper Mario super easy?
Titan Quest is so awesome im gonna play tonight, I wish I was playing now :(
-
I'd play it if it came to 360. I heard Sacred 2 was. Guess that'll do.
-
Oooh, Sacred 2 is coming to 360? I liked the first one.
Also:

-
I really like the egypt level. I like parts of Act III and all of Act IV more, but the Egypt level is really cool. Especially when compared to the entire Greece level, which is Boresville Central.
Yeah Sacred 2 is going to be on the 360. I liked the first one and I'll definitely be playing the game on my PC.
-
Greece is pretty boring until you get to epic where they new hero monsters are added. I have to say tho that warzone in the expansion zone is just awesome.
Did you play the expansion for Sacred, frag? It was pretty cool.
-

Yeah, I played the whole kit and kaboodle. Great fun, TQ w/ expansion better though.
That warzone has some cool DX9 effects and what not going. The crazy castle where the judges/cerberus were was pretty awesome too. I actually found that the end area was one of the less-interesting parts of the act, suprisingly.
-
Yeah it was just kinda a generic fortress. What is gained by releasing souls from prisons btw?
-
I was at the store earlier and was going to get the expansion until I saw it was $30 fucking dollars. That's more than I paid for the first part. So I bought some ice cream instead.
-
A fair trade.
-
MAF, I don't have the expansion. Run me through shit, plz? :)
-
you NEED the expansion. it makes a decent game into an omg one.
-
WILL DO, CAPN
-
2 hours a night! ADDICTED! OMG
-
2 hours a night! ADDICTED! OMG
That's not addicted. When you forget to pee and eat because you're too busy playing then you're addicted. Weaksauce.
-
Its addicted for a person with a healthy social life and career :(
-
lol
-
If that's what you have to tell yourself to justify it...
-
THATS RIGHT!
-
i have played this all weekend
what a wonderful game
-
Me too. Level 48 almost, in Babylon on Epic mode. Mostly have purples equipped now. I AM UNSTOPPABLE so far :D
-
I got it today, played for a few hours, so awesome!
-
Played it most of the weekend here too-straight through the first three acts up to Rhodes on Legendary, and am now doing third act telkiene/typhon and turtle runs for the really insane gear.
I haven't yet tried another character other than my melee one, but I'll give it a spin a few months down the road. For now, I'm super-satisfied with the 60+ hours the game has given me with just one character, and look forward to revisiting the game frequently over the next few years when I lack the motivation to play anything new.
Been a good PC gaming year so far. I know that MAF and Drinky don't share my fondness for Supreme Commander, but that game and Titan Quest have really, really delivered for me.
-
i might be more fond of SupCom if nVidia could provide decent Vista drivers!
ah well, PC upgrade in September for a quadcore w/ ATi Radeon 2000 HD (R600). should run SupCom dandy!
-
Gas Powered Games is doing some serious overhaul on performance in the next patch, due out sometime this month. Also, there is supposedly a big drop of brand-new major-version nVidia drivers tomorrow.
I hope that you, MAF, and Whiteman can get into it more at that point. It really is the most satisfying multiplayer RTS I've played since Kohan: AG, though I do admit it has more micro than that game because of the economy shenanigans that are possible at the endgame.
Rise of Nations/Legends are still my preferred single-player RTS games of choice. So much content!
-
I CANT STOP PLAYING TITAN QUEST!
-
Any suggested TQ builds? I made a Dreamkiller (Rogue/Dream) and I'm focusing on poison-DoTs for Rogue (mostly bows) and passive Dream boosts. Undead are my biggest issue right now; I think I need to find a sword or spear with a Fire DOT as my secondary.
I get the feeling that the best way to play is to put only one point into each skill as it becomes available, with the rest going into "core" class abilities? And then pump up skills once you've maxed out your class stats? I didn't do this for the first ~5 levels (I was unclear on how exactly the "Mastery" bar worked) so I have like 2-3 points in some low-level skills I'd like to redistribute. Is there any way to respec?
OH MY GOD I'VE ALREADY STARTED.
-
when you hit egypt, the osiris relic adds massive undead damage boosts to a weapon of choice -- make an alt bow or a spear with it. trance of empathy in dream is effective against everything, too -- pump dream until you get it. frag?
to respec, find the dude in town with the blue orb over his head. he'll let you buy back skill points so you can redistribute them. i had to gut my life leech and dump points into my liche king summon just to deal with the undead hordes since i didn't bother with the anti-undead branch of spirit; cost me a chunk (i got like 18 points back) but MAN it was worth it.
also, PIERCING RESIST UBER ALLES. the nastiest undead are the archers, and good piercing resist makes them into non-threats.
-
Dream+Anything is fn' deadly. The trance of empathy maxed is nuts. Btw you can drive skills past their max with +1 skill equipment. My trance of Empathy reflects like 70% of the damage. You get trance of empathy right away too. I didnt max it till Epic tho with a respec. I love how you can respec in this game.
The dream pet is also insanely overpowered :D. Also the stat boosting dream talents rock. I have a Dream+Defense (Templar) and im pretty unstoppable, cept for Typhon, frag had to help me with him. But all the shield attack crap, the shield charge + all the insane dream stuff = IM AWESOME. Also make sure to boost your HP so you can survive the potion cooldown to keep chuggin. I have almost 5000hp right now. HEADSTRONG!
Also if you are a class type that cant close the gap against archers pierce resistance IS important. However I have -40% pierce resistance and im fine in epic cause o shield dash. Most of the blue and set piece equipment will take care of resistances. I havent really thought of them much. I just save charms for relic construction.
As for skill point distribution, I kinda just went with maybe 2-4 points into each, more with skills I use more often.
I also have a couple pure pet characters, and a hunter/rogue character.
-
My character is a harbinger, so I think I can speak halfway decent for a Dreamkiller. They are a lot alike.
I put one point into Empathy for the lifeleech to start out with. Later on I went for trace of wrath at the high end-the skill disruption and especially reduced target resistances would be killer for a Dreamkiller since you rely on poison, pierce, and bleed damage. So as you move onto epic, think about maxing that trance and using it exclusively.
I would suggest that you look into Distort Reality/Temporal Rift down the line. It's fantastic crowd control on a pretty reasonable cooldown. Maxing Premonition and Temporal FUX also seems like a must-do for that kind of build.
I would think hard at first about putting a few points into a few key, focused skills while still throwing a good half or so of your skillup points into mastery skillups, as the hit point,DPS, and OA/DA boosts are really nice. I had my main mastery (Dream) maxed out when I reached the end of normal, and my secondary mastery maxed in the middle of epic or so.
I would go with one-pointers for skills that really offer a lot with just one point. Don't spread stuff too much out, and remember that you need the following to survive as a dual-wield/2Hander:
A) A good crowd control spell, preferably on a low cooldown so as not to slow you down too much.
B) fast burst DPS against a single target when you neeed it. (like a right click for massive damage ability, ala lethal or phantom strike).
C) Good offensive/defensive ability scores (OA/DA). Especially DA, that alone can make the difference between a wtf impossible fight and SNORLAX GO.
D) Pierce resist whenever you can get it. It's well itemized on shields, not so much anything else. On normal difficultly, archers are very nasty foes.
-
as for point D), seriously consider a spear/shield combo as an alt weapon, so you can whack W when the hail of arrows comes in and boost yer pierce resist with a good shield.
-
Unless you have an attack the procs a percentage of the time when you normall attack, like defense does. Then you want a fast/very fast weapon.
-
One of the most interesting things about TQ is that it has a flat proc rate on weapons and on-hit effects, regardless of swing speed.
Yes, I am abusing the hell out of it. MAD MINMAX: BEYOND MUNCHKINDOME.
-
really? I didnt know that. Maybe ill go spear soon ;)
-
yeah, I have an every-fourth-strike proc and my Very Fast weapon is abusing the hell out of it.
I got a blue shield with +1 to Warfare and Defense, two trees I don't use. Cry cry.
I just found out that weapon bonuses and most importantly POISON AND BLEED APPLICATION apply to throwing knives. So I'm dropping traps and going knives/flurry as my new primary form of crowd control. Helllllllls yeah.
-
I dunno sometimes a blue shield is good regardless of it being for your class specifically ;)
-
i beat hades tonight. i am awesome. on to epic!
-
My light-yellow shield (uncommonly-good uncommon?) with Archimedes Mirrors was a lot better. I got a new blue tonight that rocked me, though. Plus I got the Bracers of Atlas and they give me STONE FORM!!! bitches I can turn into STOOOOOONE! yeah.
-
Been doing the turtle run like mad for a good level or so worth of XP. Just had this drop out of the chest at the end of one:
(http://home.nc.rr.com/fragamemnon/screenshot01_thumb.jpg) (http://home.nc.rr.com/fragamemnon/screenshot01.jpg)
A dark horse pick for expansion pack of the year for the platform, even given the awesomeness of Burning Crusade (which will be a shoo-in, given the PC press' ability to elevate things like Serious Sam 2 to awards).
-
I AM JEALOUS OF UR PURPLES! Im almost in Hades Epic, the weird sisters gave me some issues.
-
The game says I've spent 75 hours on my harbinger, so maybe it's time I put the game down for a bit. :) Anyway, the closeout stats since if I do play again it will be with a caster of some sort.
I can swap resists around but really with the insane offensive and defensive abilities I was sporting the stuff I was farming (Secret Passage, Hydra, Act II and III telkenes, and Typhon), was more than enough to get me by thanks to having some damage-to-health gear (35%) coverting that insane DPS to health.
-
You are as a god!
Im still in Hades Epic. I keep getting fucking shield purples which I dont need cause theyre all pretty specific but the same in damage protected so wtf. I want sum HELM PURPZ. ANyway awesome stats frag, congrats on conquering Titan Quest :)
Im getting towards Legendary, Hades expansion is actually taxing me, but I think I blame my -40 pierce resist. No major death issues yet tho, just gotta keep potions handy.

I have some stuff, including a vaulted Helm of Ares, if you want.
I got so many farking shield purples it drove me insane. I DUAL WIELD. It took me forever to get my two maces of huge stats/lifeleech. :hyper
-
haha, well im def spec but goddamn im getting DOUBLES of purple shield drops. Thats sad. I wouldnt mind a purple helm, we can link up tomorrow maybe?
-
I'm at the last warp point in the expansion, gonna beat it tonight. Oddly, the white spider queen has been the hardest boss BY FAR. I beat Typhon on the 2nd try (solo) but she took like 8 attempts. Ugh. All-in-all, the game is RAD.
I want to do some farming before I move on to Epic. What are the best places to go? Frag mentions "Secret Passage" and "Hydra" and "turtle run" but I dunno where those are. I don't see Typhon runs as a good time/reward given there's no warp point near him and the run up is kind of annoying. Act III Telkine I got down to like 3 minutes from the rebirth fountain.
Anything I should know about Epic before I attempt it? I think there's a resist penalty a-la Diablo, anything else?
This game is awesome.

One thing about being at the end of normal is that a lot of your gear doesn't have runspeed bonuses. Once you get movement speed up faster, farming usual bosses starts to get more reasonable because moving from point A to point B is much simpler.
If you are looking to do some farming going into epic, I would only really suggest it if you are in truly woeful shape equipment wise. Act 4 Normal is harder than anything up to Act 3 Epic, and there will be much loot and monsters to get during those first two acts in epic.
Regarding the secret passage/"turtle" run, they are one and the same. Hades has a chance to drop a small item (1x1 on the inventory grid) that looks like a turtle and is called the Overlord. You can use it to access a secret area near Rhodes in the start of Act 4, behind a locked off gate down near the shore just a little while west of the rebirth fountain in the Coastal Asomata area. This passage has about 15 tough enemies in it, but they aren't TOO bad at normal difficulty. Once you kill them all, you can open this big chest from which a lot of good items and relic pieces drop out of.
Epic difficulty has some new bosses that aren't in Normal, like the manticore in act 2(avoid at all costs) and the undead dragon (easy) in act 3. The Hydra is unique to legendary and is considered the second hardest creature in the game, but he's a damn chump for any melee class.
Epic has two main changes-higher level enemies and a across the board -40 to all PRIMARY resists (not secondary). It's not hard to get over that limitation well before the end of the difficultly level.
I would focus on getting some good blues or socketed greens for now.
-
I may skip farming, then; I have a good mixture of blues (include +2 to my Rogue abilities) and super tweaked greens, and feel really pretty damn okay gearwise. I energy leech enough that I can just spam my skills at cooldown and not need to chug potions. It's great!
Spec-wise, I'm a Dreamkiller (Rogue/Dream).
Rogue, I'm focusing on throwing knives and poison, with a secondary focus on shrapnel/gas bombs. Traps are also really useful in long boss fights. I feel a bit spread out, though, and may try to drop one of those disciplines. Probably the gas bombs; they're great, at times, but I'd rather keep spamming knives.
Dream, I'm focusing on Trance of Wrath and slowly building up my pet. Not so much, otherwise, though I feel I should pump up some of the other great passive bonuses.
I've maxed out both trees already, so...any build suggestions?
-
boost trance of empathy and your pets base skill, then a few points into mez cause its funny. Trance of Empathy + high level dream pet is kinda mega cheese.
Most of my attention went to defense class tho cause OMG SHIELD BASHES

mez = the pet's hypnotic gaze?
-
yeah
-
why trance of empathy over trance of wrath? I'm lovin the lit damage aura esp. against pesky undeadlings
-
Well im def spec so many trance of empathy is better for me, but my trance of empathy currently reflects 77% of damage dealt
-
All 3 trances are good, to be honest.
I went with wrath because the resistance reduction at the higher difficulty levels really opened up the DPS I was doing. The 1.0s skill disruption component was also darn handy.
-
Yeah if I was Warfare I woulda probably gone wrath too.
-
I GOT A PURPLE AXE MY DPS DOUBLED I WILL SOON BREAK 1K DPS IN EPIC ACT 1 WOW JUST WOW
-
Beat Epic tonight (level 48, over 2000 DPS wow just wow). Anything I should know about Legendary penalties?
I got the Overlord item from Hades and did my first "turtle run." Took me like an hour, tons of dying and running back and being just generally pissed at the game. HOWEVER, it was all worth it. I opened the chest and got <b>BOTH</b> pieces of "<a href=http://www.gamebanshee.com/titanquest/setitems/thetexan.php>The Texan</a>" set, <a href=http://www.gamebanshee.com/cgi-bin/search/banshee_search.pl?_layout=TitanQuest_Items_Page&_cgifunction=search&TitanQuest_Items.id=261>Tarwater's Shade</a> and <a href=http://www.gamebanshee.com/cgi-bin/search/banshee_search.pl?_layout=TitanQuest_Items_Page&_cgifunction=search&TitanQuest_Items.id=345>Tarwater's Kickers</a> A combined +650 defensive ability, 40% armor, 60% to all elemental resists, and a few other assorted resists and stats. But most importantly of all IT MAKES ME LOOK SHIT HOT.
<img src=http://i2.tinypic.com/4mbzez9.jpg>
Bring on Legendary!

Bring on Legendary!
Haha, yeah after farming that a bit on epic I could run around as a cowboy, Sherlock Holmes, Santa, or cowboy. It was pretty awesome.
My main tip for legendary is to make sure to keep your DPS nice and high/balanced as you go through the difficultly setting. One of the big problems I had was that I was focusing too much at times on things like Offensive/Defensive ability or making sure that my resists were near capped out, and I had some tough times in the second or third chapter. Then I changed out some gear to crank my DPS a bit, and life got a lot easier. Kill them before they kill you is a perfectly fine strategy in this game.
It wasn't until I got to act 4 legendary and started doing the secret passage there that my character got really crazy powerful. Beware, though: Toxeus is even more a bitch there than he is on epic. :(
-
Yeah Legendary has been tougher for me than epic so far. Been addicted to .Hack tho so my attention is split am total.
-
TVC rightly pointed out that this AWESOME outfit makes me look like a Simple 2000 game heroine. :-*
