The 4th is Labor Day. How you jagoffs gonna spend it?
Me, I gotta go take my daughter to see the grandparents, so it'll be portable gaming time. They live on the nasty Olympic Peninsula beachfront, which is full of rocks and rotting seagulls and rotting fish and rotting crabshells and rotting kelp and rotting wood and rotting sea urchins. It reeks like Shake's mom's pussy out there, and the bars are full of drunken surly hillbillies. :heart I'm gonna hunker down and put some serious PSP time in -- try and beat Valkyrie Profile's hard mode and play UGnG until my eyeballs rupture. I certainly shall NOT spend my time inhaling the rank odor of dead marine life.
-
Probably rubbing a couple out before the summer comes to an end! :-*
-
That's what -- three minutes of Labor Day total for you? What ELSE. I suggest making a fursuit and cruising the DigiPen campus.
-
:hyper
-
First Labor Day in like four years I havent worked. I will be in my house reading a good book.

Some gaming, some reading. I think that's about it.
-
I don't have any plans... yet. I'll probably end up going to my parents who will want to have a BBQ at their place.
Besides that, I'm going to try to do as little work as possible. I'd like to put some time into Dead Rising, and read some Absolute books that I recently purchased: Watchmen (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1401207138/sr=1-1/qid=1156783973/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-1423005-2665610?ie=UTF8&s=books), Dark Knight (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1401210791/sr=1-1/qid=1156784016/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-1423005-2665610?ie=UTF8&s=books) and Kingdom Come (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1401207685/sr=1-2/qid=1156784069/ref=pd_bbs_2/002-1423005-2665610?ie=UTF8&s=books).
-
Damn, I need to pick up Absolute Dark Knight, but $100 is far too steep for me. :'(

Not to sound like Goodcow, but it's $63 w/ free shipping at Amazon. Still expensive, but much better than $100 which is pretty ridiculous. Many of their hardcovers (not just the comics) have really nice discounts. I hardly buy anything from B&M stores anymore.
-
I really want to pick it up, but considering I own the DKR tbp and can pick up DKSA (not that I would want to :yuck) for $10-15, spending another 50 bones for the hardcover treatment and extras doesn't really appeal to me. I guess I'll just wait till my DKR wears out, or I win the lottery... :P
-
BBQ most likely.
-
I'm going to spend it frustrated at the lack of updates on videogame sites.

Amazon is pretty sweet. I just picked up three books on the cheap and got 2-day free shipping because I signed up for a free trial of Amazon Prime that I have no intention of actually paying for once the trial is up.

Yeah, I enjoyed having it even though I didn't really use it much during my three month trial. If you haven't already, make sure that you go into your account (I think it's under 'Subscription Management') and have it turn off when the trial ends. That way you won't have to worry about manually doing it, and getting billed.

Shit you scared me for a second. I saw you're pic and you do not look like a granddad :lol
Meh, I'll probably be still moving shit into my new house. Maybe buy some movies while I'm at it.

Woah that's pretty damn dorky when one can't stand a few hours without doing something gaming related. :lol
-
Look who's talking
-
Maybe going to San Francisco. The drive's a bitch from Socal, tho, so I may just stay home and play Dead Rising and watch moe snuff.
-
I spend 98% of my time doing non-gaming related biz, duder. When I get a swath of time where my daughter will be watched by someone else, and my wife will be out shopping, damn STRAIGHT I'm gonna spend it gaming. :punch
Aren't you the one pining about the lack of gamesite-related updates above?
-

I will cook you a BBQ if you come over to see my artistic and tasteful reenactment of Buffalo Bill's infamous scene from Silence of the Lambs, complete with "Goodbye Horses" played by the local NoHo strings quartet.

that first post was a sarcastic comment since I consider most of these themed holidays to be holistically pretty meaningless
it's refreshing to see people with such resolve in the practice of their passions... though I mostly wonder how your peers perceive such a rabid obsession with something viewed as pejoratively as gaming :P
-
What kind of BBQ can you do Willco?
-
I always find it amusing when those without real responsibilities decide to give commentary with those who are swamped with real responsibilities.

Like what, stockpiling school supplies? Commit that shit before taking this dose of ether in the presense of obse women.

I will probably have a cookout, those in the area are more than invited.
-
1. I largely keep my hobbies to myself.
2. My peers are over the age of 25 and rock, because I don't associate with dumbfucks.
3. Again, I have ZERO time to play games, so when I get some rare time to myself, I don't fuckin' pass it up. At my age, you learn to appreciate free time -- and how.

Question out of curiosity: have you ever been playing your PSP and a kid (IE 14-17) has come up to you and asked if you wanted to play with him? Or have you ever gamed with people signifigantly younger than you in general?
-
Are you trying to hit on Drinky.
-
I'm just curious about this. I mean, it would be interesting to hear about gaming sessions between gamers who are seperated by age by like 15+ years. Like a 15 year old playin with a 30 year old dude.
In my Wolfenstein ET clan, we've got a couple members in their late 30's, early 40's and they rock. Theres a father/son duo in the clan too, which is awesome.

Despite buying a 360 2 weeks ago, yesterday was the first chance I had to play for more than 90 minutes at a time. Mm, Dead Rising!

You don't even have Labor Day in Canada, you filthy Cannie. That's why you don't get it. Labor day is about our acceptance of socialist practices in order to make life better for the masses. You don't know jack shit about that in Canada.
Or wait, is Labor Day another one of those 8 holidays meant for venerating US murder and violent adventures in countries not our own?
-
Labor Day is a time when us members of the upper class give teachers and garbage men a rest day.
-
Labor Day is there to celebrate socialism -- specifically, the tie-the-scabs-to-rebar-and-break-their-knees-with-a-tire-iron brand of Union socialism of the sort that makes Opa-Ages' Princess WayWay throw up into her mouth in a paroxysm of effete pseudo-conservative panic.
We generally celebrate it with barbecues, picnics, parades, Capcom-specific gaming marathons, and hanging Wobblies from local bridges. It's a good time!

Come on Synthesizer Patel, I'm offering you FREE FOOD and alcoholic beverages as far as the eye can see - just for the itsy, bitsy price of having you watch my acting tour de force.

I'm worried about the expected level of, uh..."audience participation."
-
MINIMAL.
Okay, what if I told you that I lived in a complex filled with women with big boobs. True story.

my calendar with dogs says that the Canadian labor day is at the same day :(
I think it's pretty much just a day for workers to fullfill their quotas of cocooning in front of the TV

I rarely play games in public unless White Man there tricks me into it by promising me lunch at Chili's. I'll gladly humiliate myself for chicken crispers and the volcanic diarrhea that inevitably follows.
If a kid asks me about a game I'm playing at an airport, I tell him or her to fuck off. Kids can find better things to do than badger me about video games, like picking at gum stuck to an airline terminal seat.

But I thought you said your neighbor was Jewish?

Patel, as a White Man Production, I guarantee that Willco's Labor Day Spectacular will be the most tasteful piece of hardcore homosexual pornography I have ever produced. Now, how many cocks can you fit in your butt at once? I have you down for 4, is that cool?
-

The girl with the biggest boobs in my HS class was totally Jewish. Like, the only Jew in my 95% Republican school district. Oy vey!
So do you live in the SF, Willco? I had you pegged as a Seattlite.
-
She's got huge boobs and is being quite flirtatious with me. I need someone to reflect her sexual advances on to, maybe you, PhoenixDark?
There are two 20-somethings downstairs, both work in the industry (one in casting, the other for a production company), that are currently single and busty as well.
There are about four other 20 to 30-year-olds in similar shape in the complex, all of them manhunting at any given point.
I live in the Twilight Zone between Toluca Lake and NoHo, about mile north of Universal Studios and can always see the Two Towers (D-isney and NBC) on my walking destinations.
-
OMG sounds amazing. Too bad they probably don't do the interracial thing :(
I can't wait to move out to my frat house and meet my female neighbors. There's got to be one lonely MILF in the area
-
I'm going to drive off into the sunset never to be heard from again. Or off a cliff. Probably a cliff.

Is that in the LA area? I am so out of the lingo.
-
Well, it's in the valley, whether or not you consider that part of the Los Angeles area is always a debate. To use less local lingo, I live right over the hills, near Universal Studios and west of Burbank.
-
I will probably definitely be working on Labour Day, possibly for 12 hours. Sucks, but I didn't have any plans anyway and I need the money!
-
I invited you to the cookout - your loss!
-
I got WORK'D as well. Putting the "labor" back in "labor day"! :gloomy
-
I actually offered you free food as well. You are all fools!
-
I was promised a comp holiday once my game ships! Hooray! :duh
In the meantime--CRAP, HERE COMES MY BOSS! :whip
-
Sounds like false promises!
-
I concur. I believe in "comp" vacation days about as much as that ghost man on third.
