That's obviously the very first gray costume he builds in captivity.

It looks amazingly close to the original. I'm officially excited about this movie. :hyper
So does this movie take place in the 1960's with the cold war theme or what?I believe it takes place in modern times, and Tony Stark gets kidnapped while traveling in the Middle East. The rest of the story is quite similar to the original, though - he and some other scientist are forced to build weaponry, and he uses scrap and spare parts to construct the original suit.
Ah okay *checks google*, The Mandarin is going to be in it.So does this movie take place in the 1960's with the cold war theme or what?I believe it takes place in modern times, and Tony Stark gets kidnapped while traveling in the Middle East. I dunno why PD is laughing, the fact that they're doing an apparently accurate retelling of the origin story (obviously updated for modern times) is wonderful news.
Why does a big heavy iron suit keep him alive from a shrapnel injury?Well if I remember correctly the other doctor imprisoned with him is a heart expert, so basically the captors allow the doctor to create some sort 'ticker' to keep Tony Stark alive but the Dr and Tony formulate something to keep Tony alive as well bust their way out of jail.

Only the chest part does that, the rest is secretly built as a weapon to help bust him out of jail.
Also, it's a comic book. ;)
You think I don't know what Ironman's original costume looked like? Jesus christ
This looks horrible. I pray this is not the suit used in most of the movie.

You're wrong. It looks awesome.
And it's been confirmed that Iron Man will have several different suits throughout the movie, for different situations.

It won't be great, trust me. I like Downey Jr as Stark (although I would have preferred TOM CRUISE) but come on. Not only will it suck, it'll bomb as well.
Mark my words

Where is the Unforgiven review?
Where is the Unforgiven review?
In Solo's movie thread.
And Pee Dee, when everyone is saying something except one person, it's usually, you know, true. Oh wait, are you hating truth along with facts now?
Not too long ago everyone said the world was flat. So don't pull that card, it's logically weak
Haha at the bowing to Children of Men. That movie was lame.

Is there something in the water up in Redmond that makes you guys dumb? Oh, I get it, if everyone likes it you must hate it. Good to know.

Um, we've known the world was round since at least the era of ancient Greece.

Are you denying that there was a time when everyone "knew" the earth was flat? :lol

You know that's not true in my case. It's a very pretty movie, and it's engaging to watch, but in hindsight there's really not much meat to it. It's good while it's happening. It's entertaining, but nowhere near deserving of the OMG BOW icon. . .especially in comparison to Unforgiven.
So over 2000 years is now "not too long ago?"
