Title: Holy Shit: Payback - Straight Up is almost a completely different take.

Apparently there was a schizm between the first director and mel, mel kicked him off near the end and rewrote a shitload of it. Not sure which version I like better. I think the theatrical cut was a bit more "fun" but I kinda liked the straight up version for some reason lol.

So if you already own payback and like it a lot, get this new version. Completely different film.

And yet they are, swear to God. I haven't seen "Straight Up", but the original theatrical release of Payback changed tons of stuff and made it oh-so-crappier.

Post by: MrAngryFace on April 20, 2007, 02:30:55 AM: Theatrical Release of Payback was done to appease the general audience, it was Gibson's deal. Its not a bad movie in that form but the Dir cut is much grittier and the tone of the film is completely different.

I mean dont get me wrong I LIKED the theatrical cut, but the directors cut just seems to have more punch.
