I think rechargeable batteries have put a dent into their sales, so they raise the prices to compensate. Stock investors are so distinguished mentally-challenged .. lower sales with a higher profit margin is seen as worse than higher sales with a lower profit margin.

I use rechargables for my digital camera, but I still get normal AAA batteries for my MP3 player. I don't have a AAA charger, just AA.
