Title: Tony Hawk fans...
Post by: Oblivion on April 24, 2007, 01:01:07 PM
Okay, guys this is real important. I need to know a few things about this series. Specifically, I guess something like Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4.

1. How difficult is the learning curve.
2. How difficult is it to do combos? Is 300,000 considered very impressive?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't played one since THPS 2 but:

1. Okay learning curve. Sometimes the objectives can be kinda hard to do.
2. 300k on one level is okay. 1 million is impressive.

1. Not difficult (Some of the very last goals in THPS4 are VERY HARD though)
2. Depends upon the size. Nope. (Towards the end of certain THPS games you'll be called upon to reel off 500K combos at the drop of a hat)

Tony Hawk's Project 8 is probably the hardest so far. One of the achievements is to do a 10 million combo run in 2 minutes. Yes, it's possible.

1 million is piss now, btw. Not impressive in the slightest.

Project 8 is, by a hundred miles, the hardest THPS game. About a year ago, I did all goals in THPS1-4, THUG1-2, and THAW in a 24 hour session. I still haven't beaten Project 8.

i used to pull 6-10 million combos in THPS3 -- then again i was pretty obsessed w/ it.  project 8 is crap, and 300k is very easy if you've got the controls down.

My biggest accomplishment ever is 1.37 million in Philly (THPS2) without the use of a single special trick.

Tony Hawk 1 = Perfect, easy to play, not hard, lots of reply value.
Tony Hawk 2 = Perfect, easy to play, not hard, lots of reply value.
Tony Hawk 3 = Perfect, easy to play, not hard, lots of reply value.
Tony Hawk 3 N64 = Perfect, easy to play, not hard, lots of reply value.
Tony Hawk 2x XBOX = Perfect, easy to play, not hard, lots of reply value.

Stay away from tony hawk 4 and the rest of them. Tony hawk 4 is extremely hard and impossible to finish.
This new tony hawk underground mess is silly, ugh.

Thats pretty much, stick with the old series for fun.

I'm going to buy a Tony Hawk game for Gamecube, which one would be the best to get (that's similar in gameplay to most of the others)?
