Woah, this cut is more extensive than previously thought. The HTF has caught word of Scott currently filming new material for his upcoming Blade Runner cut. Including some work with actors from the original.
"Joanna has just finished re-shooting her scenes from the original BLADE RUNNER movie. Joanna is wearing her original outfit (which she kept over from the first production). These new scenes will be part of the upcoming special BLADE RUNNER DVD re-release. Check back for more detail"

I dont approve of this. Its one thing to reinsert things, but to film new content 25 years later is George Lucas-levels of tampering.

He is adding cgi as well you know. Ridley Scott is going all out on this. WB must have gave him a lot of money if he can do re-shoots.

Did you guys ever see the little thing he did before the Gladiator Extended Cut that was released a while back? Unlike the Kingdom of Heaven Dir Cut (which he fully endorsed 100%) the Gladiator one he clearly didnt feel he needed.
"What was in theaters WAS the directors cut, in this extended cut we added some things you may like *shrug*"
I think the Gladiator Extended Cut musta been payment for some favor.
-
Solo: Jabba was a Replicant!
-
As long the original versions are also available in the set, I'm cool with him doing whatever the hell he wants.
Now, if he pulls a Lucas and leaves them out, there will be hell to pay.

not the case with Blade Runner, he has been unhappy with the directors cut for a long time. He is going gaga over this new cut with the money WB gave him.
I doubt Ford is coming in for reshoots. ;)
Edit: the theatrical cut, the directors cut, and this final "ridley scott's true vision" cut will be in the set.
-
Ill probably consider the existing DC the real cut.

you gotta watch this new one just for the sake of it. Ridley Scott isn't George Lucas. I am pretty damn curious of how scenes filmed in 2007 will mesh in as will the cgi.

Do you know if thye're still on track for a Fall 2007 release on DVD, Blu Ray and HD-DVD?
-
Sounds like a big waste of money.

They want it out by christmas but apparently he is still in the middle of filming for blade runner right now so I dunno. CGI work for old scenes is probably finished already.
-
Uh no thank you, i've seen what this has done already (starwars) and i dont like it.

ridley scott is pretty damn good at directors cuts unlike lucas though.
It is well agreed upon knowledge that the director's cuts of legend and KoH are superior to their originals.
-
Yes, but KoH was one year later, not 25. Scott circa now isnt Scott circa Alien and Blade Runner.
-
DOES JABBA DREAM OF ELECTRIC JEDIS?!?!??!

It's been delayed so many times now. Another one wouldn't surprise me.

I know, I know. I still don't believe he would be filming new stuff for the hell of it. He isn't Lucas. The least you can do is watch his new cut with a somewhat open mind and give it a chance. I have a feeling if he goes over-board I will go back to the director's cut but Ridley is still on my good side so I give him a shot for now.
I want to know why he feels the need to get a film crew and film blade runner stuff in 2007 now, its odd.
-
Maybe he can make a mediocre movie a point better.
-
I WILL buy the set and watch it Cheebs, dont worry. I just said that Ill probably end up consider DC1 the true cut, unless somehow this new shit meshes with the old shit to make a better film.

Regardless he is one of the few director's who could pull something like this off. I wouldn't trust Spielberg to go and do reshoots for Jaws or something.
Ridley is the expert on Director's Cuts. I can't see him being someone who will masturbate to a check from WB and go all out and add digital characters.
-
Uh is it a sin that i've not seen KoH? Or for that mater the directors cut? I've seen legend but not the directors cut. Seen the directors cut of alien though good stuff.
-
The Directors Cut of KoH is a completely different movie, and amazing. The theatrical cut doesnt even make sense.
-
The thing is though, how the hell are they doing reshoots with the old actors? It was 25 years ago!

That's where the CGI comes in.

And hopefully the European/International cut. The extra few seconds of eye gouging is neat.
I guess there's really no hope for the workprint being included as well. Damn shame too.
