TOKYO - Nintendo’s president acknowledged Friday that the shortage of the hit Wii game machine was “abnormal,” and promised production was being boosted to increase deliveries by next month.
We must do our best to fix this abnormal lack of stock,” Nintendo President Satoru Iwata told reporters. “We have not been able to properly foresee demand.”
Haha. Yeah right, Nintendo.
-
To be honest I do doubt nintendo would have predicted they would have been launched into first place this generation so quickly and thus would need to produce as many systems as they need(which they are waaay behind on)
-
To be honest Nintendo is the mutherfukin KING of manufactured shortages.
-
I don't remember shortages with any Nintendo systems before the Wii.
-
They are of course, but even the most insane fanboy couldn't have predicted Wii would be the new PS2 this damn fast and would need as many systems to meet the demand they have now.
-
Gamecube, DS, N64 had some weird issues initially too.

not at all like wii, all were easily on shelves after christmas, if not before it. I walked into a wal-mart the day after launch and got a DS. Even to this day stores are mobbed the second wii shipments are in.
-
Im not talking launch, im talking through the lifespan of the system. They manufacture delays with distribution and manufacturing with their games to.
Tho if you are right and I am wrong, then that would suggest that Nintendo is suprised everyone wants to buy the gamecube for a second time.
-
well for a first time. Most people buying the wii don't seem to be GameCube nintendo fanboys.
-
Nintendo has stumbled upon an entirely new gullible demographic!
-
the n64 was my first introduction to "limit supply to increase demand" in the videogaming sector :(
-
And they're still selling more than PS3 or 360.

They've been doing this stuff for way longer than the N64. I remember SMB2 and Zelda 2 being pretty damn scarce and extremely undershipped.

Bacon: Without games! Honeymoon cant last forever!
-
Like Wii Sports is ever going to become unpopular.
-
I dont think most buying wii care about other games that aren't wii sports/play/etc. the lack of "our" type of games thus then will have little to no impact
-
I only remember the N64 being scarce through that first x-mas. After that, they were pretty plentiful.
-
I'm pretty sure I got my N64 only a few days after Christmas with the money I got for Christmas presents, and there were plenty at the first shop I went to.
-
does anybody worth mentioning really WANT a wii, though
