buuut ff/serenity IS over-rated. I love it but it isnt the be all end all of sci-fi

no-one is arguing it is the end-all, be-all of sci-fi. it's just awesome, and foc is a fat useless slab of mediocrity.

I figured Drive would get canceled, but I didn't think it would be gone this fast! Hopefully the plot outline will get leaked to the internet so we can find out what was going to happen, if nothing else.

Serenity/Firefly didnt rock because it was good sci fi so much as it had one of the most natural and capable ensemble casts i've ever had the pleasure of watching.

Firefly is the Dragonlance of Sci-Fi.


Imagine you are a nerdy teenager in the 60's. Shows like The Twillight Zone and Star Trek are on TV ... then fast forward 40 years and 'Firefly' and 'BSG' is what passes off as "AMAZING" sci-fi. How disappointed you must be. Genres are supposed to evolve .. no devolve.

And how did these two shows devolve the genre?

I haven't seen BSG but what's wrong with Firefly? Not enough distinguished mentally-challenged gizmo gadgets and elves?

Doctor Who still owns Firefly's ass all over the place, but Firefly was decent enough for me to buy it on DVD. I loved that show, and they should revive it.

I wouldn't consider The Twilight Zone a real genre show, despite how awesome it was.  And I'd say there are four, maybe five, space sci-fi genre shows better than Star Trek.  The original series had a cool cast, but it's awfully dated and if you're going to claim it as the peak of the genre, then you're a delusional Trekkie.

Stargate is the best sci fi ever. 10 season, and 4 seasons of atlantis so far, and another spin-off next year, and a couple movies based on sg-1
