I was looking at cars at a dealership webpage online and ALL of the Mustangs, a SPORTS PERFORMANCE VEHICLE were automatics. God damnit.
-
Im sad that if I choose to drive a Hybrid it will have to be an automatic :(
-
I thought this said "Autistic motorists." Disappointment total :-\
-
hybrids aren't quite automatic. Think of the gear as getting bigger and bigger (it uses a pulley system or something).
I don't think anything other than maybe a truck SHOULD be automatic, it wastes gas.
-
There is NOTHING like powering around a corner in a manual. My focus is manual and gets great mpg. Why cant the Hybrid have a stick shift.
Hell they should just add stick shifts to automatics that dont do anything at least so im pacified.
-
I <3 automatics because I <3 not having my engine jump out in a nasty mess on my hood, but I agree that sports cars should be manual as a matter of course.
just stay away from my corollas please I am not good with car : (

I THINK YOU NEED TO SHUT UP AND PLAY TITAN QUEST!
Also people who drive manuals pay more attention to shit.
-
there's nothing worse than an automatic driver that thinks he's driving manual. You see so much of that in high school it's fucking annoying. mostly it's asians who's parents only would pay for an automatic so they don't race so they stop pressing the gas when the gear changes so it doesn't look like they're a crappy driver.
-
LURCH LURCH. I've never owned an automatic, I hate driving them cause my right arm and left leg wanna go through the motions.
-
Man, I love my automatic. You don't even USE "N" until the car runs out of gas or dies on you. Seriously. I have a 2002 toyota and I've never shifted it into neutral.
-
BUT BUT POWER AROUND CORNERS :(
I will say I do kinda wonder what stop and go traffic is like in an automatic. There's so much of that in Western Wa. I only really get to have fun when im driving to the coast to visit family or something, but even then COPS. Maybe I should just man up and get an automatic next time.
Am_Nintenho: Do you know anything about the cars that are automatics but have manual too, ive heard of them from some people.
-
I couldn't stand driving around in a manual in the traffic I have to put up with daily. Manuals are for people who love to drive and automatics are for those of us who just need to be somewhere.
-
I've only ever driven a standard long enough to "learn how". IE parking lot shit. I've ridden in lots, though, and I just laugh watching people shifting and shifting and shifting every corner, red light, yield sign. . .
I can do everything but turn left with my knees, for crying out loud. I love my toyota.
-
manumatics! they're usually kinda pricey cars, like audi a4/s4s.
-
Has anyone here traded in a car before the payments were over and taken the trade in money to get a car somewhere else? How complicated is a car trade in. I want the Toyota hybrid so I can 'get with the times' n such but all that crap seems pretty complicated.

some let you choose to go to a semi-automatic mode where it automatically upshifts when it's redlined and downshifts when braking but you can shift at any time you want, the other one also has no clutch but if you do it wrong it can turn off, I've only seen that in ferrari's but other sports cars might have it.

Eh, it's not that complicated... if you buy from the same dealer you traded to. Most won't let you just sell your car and go somewhere else. they're giving you that deal only because they want you to buy the new car. they don't want your car in most cases. they're most likely going to lose money on your old car. If you're going to do that, take it to Carmax. Very simple and friendly and they give you great deals on your used car. seriously.
Now if you're trading it in and purchasing at that same dealership, it's easy as balls. Just haggle like fuck, because they won't want to give you shit for your used car.

My car has a SMG transmission. Manual with no stick shifting FTW.
-
I drive automatics incase I ever have a blood sugar attack while driving. I'd be fucked if I had to manage a stick, but I can survive and park somewhere if I'm using an automatic.
-
yeah, traffic is so stop-and-go-and-oops-we-closed-three-lanes-down in LA that a manual would be suicide
also i hate driving
MAF PM me your MSN or something so I can bug u about TQ as needed.
-
I drive a fucking manual SENTRA, hard to the core
(http://farm1.static.flickr.com/40/107731373_514b738833_m.jpg)<--- there it is
-
City + Manual Transmission = HELL
-
I usually get a lot of room when I drive so that may be why I don't find it hard.
-
I drive both, can't really bitch one way or the other.
-
Hybrids like the Prius and Civic Hybrid have CVT transmissions. This is a transmission that has no "gears" at all and instead consists of two pulleys and a metallic belt between them. The pulleys expand and contract altering the gear ratio on the fly as you drive around. This is controlled by a computer that determines the optimum ratio for the best mileage. Driving them gives you interesting sensation as they motor doesn't change in RPM's like a automatic does. It just kind of hangs at 2-3k rpm's even though the car is accelerating
-
i don't know how to drive a manual.
-
i'll let you practice with my stick

You don't know how to drive, period. :P
